Political Prognosis Post-Budget Repair

Roeser has a few observations on the landscape now that the Battle of Wisconsin is over.

His headline?

WISCONSIN LABOR RIOTS WILL LIKELY TIP THE U. S. TO THE RIGHT

Not exactly the Yahoo!/AP/Union line, eh?

Roeser recalls political history--notably the Vietnam protests--which brought Nixon into the Presidency.

He also noted the presence of J Jackson; we agree that this was (arguably) the very worst possible optic for the Left.

Actually, as Roeser argues, this was a horrible week for the Left in general. Obama ran a 'bullying' conference while bullying Walker; gasoline prices ignited along with the Middle East *cough* while Obama suppresses domestic petroleum exploration/recovery; consumer sentiment dropped like a rock, WAY under 'expectations;' NPR self-immolated...

Roeser also forecasts a much stronger Christie and Pawlenty in the (R) horserace.

Stay tuned.

Doesn't the definition of "riot" include some evidence of violence? Where was that in Madison?

Given the polls, I can't imagine that Republicans will see many wins in Wisconsin in months and years to come.

Foust, what would you base that on though? Have we ever seen a gov'na actually lower spending? It's not like anyone in the public sector unions voted for him anyway.

As any operative will tell you, any election is all about mobilizing a thin margin so the race tilts the other way. Walker's done this. The Democrats and the unions are energized, and I doubt they will forget this.

J Jackson..the worst possible optic...maybe Michael Moore is too big to fit under that lens....

Maybe I'm naïve but if Walker actually balanced the budget, I think we're kind of in uncharted territory. Maybe that kind of thing doesn't "sell" come election time anymore, I don't know.

Too soon to tell. He could be recalled before we can see the effects.
