A Weekend With the Kids

Spent most of the weekend with the kids. About 300-400 of them.

Not my kids. Other people's kids. Some sang and danced, others spoke. Most did a really good job.

They are the OTHER part of "yout' culture"--the ones who are doing the hard work of rehearsals, drills, practicepracticepractice, just to be really good at something which actually builds a civilized society. Music and poetry, literature, history--that kind of stuff.

Nice to see it happening.

A great number of those kids were mentored, coached, and encouraged by teachers from public schools.

(That last is a 'for-the-record' statement.)
