Doyle Doubles ANOTHER Business Tax

Ted Kanavas found another little gem.

The 2009-2011 budget includes a provision to double the existing work permit fee for anyone under the age of 18. The fee will increase from $5.00 to $10.00 under the Governor’s proposal. The non-partisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau estimates the fee increase will cost young workers $960,000 over the next two years

Actually, that fee is usually reimbursed to the worker by the employer.

Regardless, it's another way for Three Card Monte Doyle to jack the cost of doing business (or, if you prefer, the cost of getting a job.)

Now he's picking on the children, or those who would employ them. Great way to demonstrate Doyle's "values."

Makes off-books work just that much more attractive, which defeats the purpose of the permit, too.

An extra $5 one time fee makes working off the books more attractive. Nyet. Not being limited to 20 hours a week makes working off the books more attractive.

Well, yes and no.

The little darlings can work more than 20/week during NON-SCHOOL weeks--summer, Christmas, and Easter breaks.

Frankly, a parent who allows more than 20/week during school is asking for trouble.
