Which Fusion for the Right?

Antle has a very perceptive essay here.  He kicks it off with the Porn Controversy which produced very clear fault-lines in the "Republican" bunch.

Then he gets to the meat of the matter:

...Social conservatives have long been viewed—and have generally viewed themselves—as junior partners to economic conservatives inside the Republican Party. They get their voters to the polls to protest abortion and gay marriage. The elected Republicans then promptly cut taxes while Supreme Court precedents declaring abortion a constitutional right remain inviolate and new ones similarly enshrining gay marriage are added, even as conservative judges proliferate. The marriage issue was thought to be central to Bush’s reelection in 2004. By 2016, a slightly higher percentage of evangelicals ended up casting their ballots for Trump, who supports—or at least does not oppose—gay marriage. It is almost universally seen as a settled issue—and not settled in the social conservatives’ favor.

Similarly, however much fusionism in theory was supposed to be equally committed to tradition and free markets, liberty and virtue, in practice it was seen primarily as a defense of free markets and constitutionally limited government. A manifesto published by First Things in March entitled “Against the Dead Consensus” (signed by TAC senior editor Rod Dreher and contributing editor Patrick Deneen, among others) laid out the charges. “Yes, the old conservative consensus paid lip service to traditional values,” the signatories wrote. “But it failed to retard, much less reverse, the eclipse of permanent truths, family stability, communal solidarity, and much else. It surrendered to the pornographization of daily life, to the culture of death, to the cult of competitiveness. It too often bowed to a poisonous and censorious multiculturalism.”...
It remains the case that the "economics first!!" branch of the dying fusion is in first place.  Just listen to Trump's crowing about the Dow, or jobs, or wage increases.  He's echoed by the "conservative" radiomouths, both national and local--except Tucker Carlson.  And Tucker's viewership has rocketed upward because he simply does not kowtow to a Koch-style MuhMoney!! creed.

Maybe the others should pay attention.  Unless they think porn is good for their children.

Tokin'Tony's Wish for Wisconsin

Tokin'Tony wants legal marijuana in Wisconsin, and a certain blockhead Pubbie leggie is right there as well.  There may be more, of course, but they speak jibberish so they can't be understood.

This won't change their alleged 'minds' either.

Running red lights. Driving at high speeds. Crossing center lines into the opposite lanes. Getting into accidents -- even hitting pedestrians. A new study found these were some of the dangerous driving behaviors of regular, heavy users of recreational weed who began using before the age of 16.

Here's the catch: users drove this badly even when they were no longer high.

The study, published Tuesday in the journal Drug and Alcohol Dependence, asked chronic, heavy marijuana users to drive in a customized driving simulator.

And what is "heavy use"?  A lot less than you might expect....

..."Heavy use was defined by daily or near daily use, a minimum of four or five times a week, with a lifetime exposure of 1,500 times," said Staci Gruber, director of the Marijuana Investigations for Neuroscientific Discovery (MIND) program at McLean Hospital, the largest psychiatric teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School....
Wanna take bets on Milwaukee's crazy-driver problem and its relationship to weed?

Milwaukee "Press" Missed This??

So happens I look at every Milwaukee "news" website every morning.  JS, 4, 6, 12, 58.

None mentioned the presence of a Communist flag carried by "protesters" at the rally.

And NONE have mentioned the "burn down Milwaukee" comments by Bernie's Iowa manager, either.

Maybe they're incompetent?

Nah.  They have a narrative and by God, that's what you're going to getGood and hard.

WINNING!! On "Family Separation" Border Policy

The momentum is rapidly building.

A U.S. judge ruled Monday that the Trump administration is operating within its authority when separating families stopped at the Mexico border, rejecting arguments that it was quietly returning to widespread practices that drew international condemnation.  NewsThud quoting AP
The ACLU and a bunch of (D) lawyers are spending a shit-ton of money--and losing.

That's a feature AND a benefit.

Where's the Tariff Inflation??

They told me that prices would skyrocket after Trump smacked Red China with tariffs so that US citizens could find solid employment in THIS country.

U.S. producer prices edged up in December as a rise in the cost of goods was offset by weakness in services, the latest indication of tame inflation pressures that could allow the Federal Reserve to keep interest rates unchanged this year.

The Labor Department said on Wednesday its producer price index for final demand ticked up 0.1% last month after being unchanged in November. In the 12 months through December, the PPI increased 1.3% after gaining 1.1% in November.
S'pose it's possible that the Free Trade Morons were wrong?

Or were they just lying..........?

Frank Walker's Right

Frank Walker speculates his way to exactly the right conclusion:  Abp. Gaenswein is a double-dealer who is making sure that Pp. Benedict (emeritus?) loses credibility.  While the press reports that 'Benedict says he did not author [parts of] the book,' note very carefully:  that's Gaenswein saying it.  B-16 has not uttered those words on the record.

And--for good measure--Cdl. Sarah, the co-author of a book on the Church's unbroken tradition of priestly celibacy (yes, it dates back to the Apostles), is also being slandered as a "liar" for acknowledging B-16's work on that very book.

The war has become un-civil.  The long knives are finally exposed, and the Christians are being martyred.  Again.

"Russkies Hacked Burisma"? Sure. No Doubt. /sarc

Bongino is very good at smelling the BS from the NYSlimes.

It's quite simple.  The Senate may hear witnesses in the Trump trial, and those witnesses may include people who are very familiar with Biden's Ukraine shakedown.  (Not that the Biden-bribe is the ONLY Democrat bribe/payoff scheme, mind you....)  Would the name "Soros" surprise you?

So.  The NYT was told to run this bullshit about "hacking."  That way, when the truth of Operative Comrade Ambassador Yovanovich's activities in Ukraine comes out during the Trump trial (or from Schweizer's book), the Democrats can protect Their Precious and his scumsucking friends by declaring:

It's all Russian operatives helping Trump!!!

Watch and see.  Meantime, watch the Bongino link above.  He's kinda fun.

Carville's a Blockhead

Nah, Chris 'Tweety-Bird' Matthews didn't bother to follow up.

Former lead strategist for Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign James Carville said on Tuesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Hardball” that President Donald Trump was “the greatest threat this country has faced since the fall of communism.”...

Communism fell?

Who knew?

Certainly not the peasants in North Korea or Viet Nam, nor the Uighurs in Red China, nor the hundreds of thousands of refugees fleeing Venezuela, nor the Ladies in White in Cuba....

Jim, you blockhead, you should try Communism for yourself.  Move to one of those workers' paradises.  Don't come back.

Lowry's "Bernie" Column: Out-of-Date in 12 Hours

Rich Lowry writes a gently-worded column about the 'socialist' Bernie.

...If he had his way, the Vermont socialist would fundamentally change the character of the country. He would make the United States an outlier in the Western world, not in terms of its relatively limited government, but its sweeping activism. A Hellfire missile aimed right at the federal fisc, Sanders would make President Barack Obama's economic agenda look like the work of a moderate Republican.

In foreign affairs, he would bring a sympathy for US enemies not often heard outside academia or Noam Chomsky reading groups.

He is the American Jeremy Corbyn, a socialist true-believer whose fantastical agenda reflects the dictates of dogma. The difference is that Corbyn effectively promised a return to socialist-imposed stagnation in Britain, whereas Bernie is inviting America to experience it for the first time....
Nope.  Sorry, Mr. Lowry, your assessment was horribly wrong.

In a video released today, Bernie's Iowa campaign manager made it clear:  there WILL be gulags under Bernie, there WILL be "re-education" under Bernie, and, if you resist Bernie, you WILL be dead--not to mention dead Milwaukee cops and (possibly) a burned-down City of Milwaukee.

Rich, boy, best up your game.   Your polite warnings are a girl's game.

What Bernie and his followers need is a close-up of baseball bats and--if necessary--AR-15's.

Listen Up, Mayor Barrett

It appears that Bernie's campaign management has plans for Milwaukee.

They're bringing matches and gasoline to the Convention.  This gives a whole new meaning to "Feel the Bern!"

Oh, yah, and "gulags are good."

Think they'll let AOC toss a few Molotovs?

Kerry, Lawyer, Liar

Why izzit that when someone is a lawyer, they are so often caught lying?

Here John Kerry gets smashed by a SeeBeeS member of the MSM (!!!) for his egregious lying.

Stopped clock and all that.........but worse, Kerry continues to carry the torch for Iran's dictators.

Local Gummints Steal Highway Funds for "Needs"

Technically, the locals are not "stealing" highway funds.  They're trying to take what Tokin'Tony is giving away--which are funds previously earmarked for local highway repairs.

So now it's not "Scott-holes"; it's Tony-Holes.

Even better is the outright lying from these local twerps.

...Mike Koles, executive director of the Wisconsin Towns Association, called it “a clear, undeniable record of the unmet needs.

“The needs are unquestionable, and while we realize this one-time grant program is not a long-term answer to more than a billion dollars of reported local community needs, it is a significant step in the right direction,” added League of Wisconsin Municipalities Executive Director Jerry Deschane....

"NEEDS"?  Really?  NEEDS??  The Propaganda-Lying School of Money-Grubbing is in session.

Let's look at these "needs":

...West Bend’s $4.1 million downtown riverwalk and the Potawatomi Tribe’s $600,000 ATV trail. However, some requests seemingly have nothing to do with transportation at all. The City of Spooner wants $3.9 million to renovate an old railroad station into a museum. The Village of Belleville wants $542,000 to restore their old train depot into business space. The Town of Solon Springs wants $347,500 for a scenic overlook....
There is no shame among these thieves.  None at all.

How Many Communists in the Deep State?

Interesting little interview (54+ minutes) with a researcher-author who specializes in digging out the Communist/Marxist philosophy in our Leading Lights.

Turns out that the Establishment is crawling with these vermin.

Does that make them anti-Trump?

Maybe.  But Communism is absolutely incompatible with the US' system of government.

Interesting names.......including a fellow named Comey.

The Poisonous FISA "Court"

Unfortunately, this little excerpt fairly characterizes far more "Courts" than just FISA.

...On September 4, 2019, the FISC approved the FBI’s amended querying procedures, explaining that the revisions remedy the deficiencies contained in the earlier procedures. Thus, the FISC held that the FBI’s minimization and querying procedures were consistent with the requirements of Section 702 and the Fourth Amendment. [Ruling]

Although the Government did not seek to resume FISA-702(16) “abouts” collection, the FISC, with assistance from amici, reviewed whether the “abouts” restrictions applied to any other types of Section 702 acquisitions currently being conducted.  Essentially it was the job of David Kris to deal with the violations being outlined, and then find process arguments to convince the FISA court to keep letting the DOJ and FBI use the system.

It’s Kris’s job to manufacture the judicial plausible deniability the FISA Judges need to keep allowing the FISA process to exist.

Stop and read that again.

Even before Mr. Kris was given this new FISC assignment, it was already his job to manufacture process arguments, find obtuse angles to justify the procedures being used, and provide the FISA judges with the plausible deniability they need in order to keep rubber stamping the fourth amendment violations.

It’s a scheme.  A legal game of whack-a-mole.  Every time the DOJ and FBI violate the fourth amendment; and every time they are caught in a compliance audit; Kris comes into the picture as the ‘fixer’, with the job to keep the non-fixable system going....

The Black-Robed jackwads have been cruising for a bruising for well over 50 years.  It's about time that they got what they're asking for.

Congress MUST de-fund FISA.

Probably Losing Their Company Car....

Two idiots.

Two General Motors employees have been arrested after they were caught racing two brand new 2020 Corvettes at speeds of up to 120 mph on a Kentucky road.

The men had reportedly been drinking at Cue Time Cocktails and Billiards on Wednesday evening, before deciding to go on the high-speed joyride along Lovers Lane, in Bowling Green. ...

Well, yes, the new 'vette can handle a lot of speed and curvy roads.

Apparently having a degree from GM Institute (or some other college) does not confer actual smarts.

They'll prolly have to give up their company cars--or maybe be assigned to driving a Bolt.

B-16 Fires a Missile

Apparently Benedict XVI's 'minder,' Mgr Gaenswein, was on vacation, and B-16 got together with Cd. Sarah to write a book strongly strenuously defending priestly celibacy.

The priesthood of Jesus Christ causes us to enter into a life that consists of becoming one with him and renouncing all that belongs only to us,' he writes....

'For priests, this is the foundation of the necessity of celibacy but also of liturgical prayer, meditation on the Word of God and the renunciation of material goods.'

Marriage, he writes, requires man to give himself totally to his family.

'Since serving the Lord likewise requires the total gift of a man, it does not seem possible to carry on the two vocations simultaneously. Thus, the ability to renounce marriage so as to place oneself totally at the Lord´s disposition became a criterion for priestly ministry.'...
It's no secret that some German Cardinals--who have been troublesome for their entire careers--are pushing for married priests.  That's not new, but their propaganda-blast vis-a-vis "the Amazon" IS new.  They're using a 'priest shortage' in that region to justify ordaining married men, and they've managed to fool a few Catholics.  So far.

Pp. Francis is sympathetic to this cause, of course, but he'll never put that into writing.  He'll just  ask for an "interview" with his favorite atheist newspaper publisher, state what he thinks, and have the Vatican Press Office do the Dishonesty Do-Si-Do.

It's a well-worn path for this little Peronist Jesuit.

Will Cd. Sarah's and B-16's intervention be enough?  It may be, as a number of US (and German) Catholics have cut back on the cash donations following the perfidies of Francis, and cash is king, as they say.  When two of the better thinkers of the Church release this sort of bomb, ..........well........

Nonetheless, PRAY!!

Cobra v. Mongoose in Democrat Household

Nancy is doing her damndest to keep the focus on impeachment, impeachment, impeachment, World War 3, World War 3, ..........yada.  You get the idea.

But even the MSM cannot overlook the REAL war going on--the one inside the (D) household.

New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says she won't pay $250,000 she owes in dues to the Democrats - money which is put toward the effort to keep the party's majority in the House.

The 30-year-old firebrand, who is the youngest person ever elected to Congress, balked at contributing her share of fundraising to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

At issue for AOC, as she is referred to, is a policy that she says 'blacklists' vendors working with insurgent primary challengers like herself....
Rumor has it that the AOC gang of CPUSA (yes, I said it: Communist Party USA) insurgents intends to take out two dozen DEMOCRAT House members this year, including several Black Caucus members (remember Bobby Rush?) and some rank-and-file moderates (Lipinski of Illinois and Engel of NYC.)

Of course, Nancy is not defenseless.  New York State is going to lose one Congressional district after the '20 Census.

Guess which one Nancy will eliminate?

The Impeach-Impeach-Impeach-World War 3 World War 3 thing is already month-old room-temperature oatmeal.  The REAL fun will be watching the Cobra take on the Mongoose.

Try Not to Cry, America

This is truly depressing, I guess.  Some obnoxious money-grubber dame and her house-twit won't infect the US.

According to reports coming from England, Meghan Markle and her husband are settling in Canada and refusing to move to Hollywood to pursue Meghan’s career until President Trump is no longer president....

Damn near enough justification for a Trump third term.

Trump vs. Reality

The President is being very poorly advised.

President Donald Trump told Fox News TV host Laura Ingraham on Friday his 2021 plans to welcome more foreign graduates will not flood the labor market for U.S. college graduates.

Won't 'flood the market', eh?

...Ingraham rejected business claims of shortages: “We’re seeing a plateauing of wages … There’s a never-ending appetite on the part of corporate America to bring in as much cheap labor as possible to drive down wages.”...
Trump seems to think that the Administration will control for quality.

“I’m not talking about cheap — I’m talking about brainpower,” Trump responded. “They want to hire smart people. And those people are thrown out of the country — we can’t do that,” he said, referring to foreign graduates of U.S. colleges.

Trump seems to want to help companies import a relatively small number of very clever people, such as Ivy League valedictorians....
Why sure!!  Take only Ivy League valedictorians, throw the rest back!!  Maybe that's what Trump really intends to do...............not.

...In fact, the government does not require U.S companies to hire Americans first, and it does not screen out unskilled foreign workers. The government does not cap foreign hires and does not enforce the loopholed rules which supposedly require foreign workers to be skilled and to be paid market-level wages. Nor does the government even try to curb the large scale nepotism that allows foreign born managers in the United States to import huge numbers of foreign workers who will kick back some of their salaries to their bosses.

For example, the “Optional Practical Training” program was expanded by President G. Bush and President Barack Obama to provide employers with an extra stream of foreign graduates. Foreigners get these OPT work permits by simply enrolling in U.S. colleges,....
Now there's a "quality" metric!!  Enroll in college, get a job

But how "qualified" are these folks?

...Federal agencies have never released a full count of the resident H-1B workforce, but federal data shows that a huge percentage are not valedictorians and that many come from no-name universities in India.

The federal data for 2017, for example, shows that 39 percent of the H-1Bs sought by New York employers were rated as “entry-level” workers, similar to U.S. graduates. Another 26 percent were rated as just “qualified,” and only six percent were rated “competent.” These cheap workers have pushed hundreds of thousands of American professionals out of jobs.

This is the visa worker program which is used by companies to replace many Americans graduates....
We've mentioned that Kohl's has more than 400 imported IT workers right there in Menomonee Falls.  Hit the link, scroll down, and you'll find the same thing at WallyWorld HQ in Arkansas.

Trump is wrong, and he should admit it.

Obnoxity Poll

Yah, I don't have one of those cute little polling gadgets.

But I have THE question:

Which was MORE obnoxious during yesterday's game:  Joe Buck, or Bloomberg's 385 ads?
