"Segregation Causes Crime"--Another Take

A few days ago, we posted a very, very, short take on an essay appearing in the local truth-bender, which essay proposed that 'segregation causes crime' or something.

George Mitchell writes a longer and far-more-nicer critique, and he will be called "RAAAAAAAAAciss" in due course.

...With segregation entrenched in much of Milwaukee’s north and northwest sides, this conclusion means the outlook is slim for improvement. As Luthern reports, “In Milwaukee, at least three in four black residents would need to relocate in order to live in fully integrated neighborhoods, wrote William H. Frey, author of a Brookings Institution study released late last year.”

An unstated but significant implication is that prospects for many Milwaukee Blacks are subject largely to factors beyond their control. That is, with little chance for meaningful reduction in segregation, higher levels of violence are a given.

The alternative view — that Blacks have a primary role in shaping their lives — is fraught with potential for controversy. Any suggestion to that effect by a white person is guaranteed to spur charges of racial bias. This effectively silences voices — Black and white. It results in a narrow, constricted public discussion about how to address seemingly intractable problems. 

The upshot is a disproportionate emphasis on actions that assume government has the primary role. The main losers in that dialogue are citizens who have accepted the view that their future primarily is tied to actions of elected officials in Madison and Washington....

Of course, Mitchell is not a racist.  He's a mostly-reformed ex-Democrat.  (The tell?  working for Dave Carley, a Kennedy 'crat of the first water).  Unfortunately for him, Mitchell is a realist.

...In preparing for that assignment, I reviewed data for census tracts in Milwaukee’s (segregated) near north side. I assumed the numbers were wrong when I read that more than seventy percent of children were born to and lived in single parent households. When told those in fact were correct numbers, my reaction was immediate: “That can’t work. No way.”

The research, of course, is voluminous and not in dispute as to the divergent prospects for children raised in one- and two-parent families.  While segregation admittedly is a factor over which Milwaukee Blacks have little or no control, that’s decidedly not the case when it comes to birthrates and family formation.  ...

That 70% number was true about 20-30 years ago, according to Mitchell.  I don't think that has changed by any significant amount, either.

Whether accidental or not, the KittyLitter article could easily be read as support for forced busing (Kamala Harris, anyone??) just as was ordered by John Reynolds, another--but more Lefty--'60's Democrat poobah. 

Maybe that 'forced busing' thing is coming back, eh?

Feds Take Back $7MM From Wisconsin

This is not "New" news, but it's another Diamond Jim Doyle story.

Seems that Doyle and his trusty (?) helper Karen Timberlake hired a crooked "consultant" to fiddle-fart Wisconsin's food-stamp success.

Ooops.

Feds found out, nailed Wisconsin for $7 million in fines.

The consultant just got slammed for $750K+.  Little old lady from South Dakota, of all places.

"Equality" Out. "Equity" In.

See, they couldn't make "equality" work.  Too many slugs and cretins, and now "trans"-whatevers demolishing "equal" sports, making them look very, very bad.

So the new word is "equity." 

But it's only a word.

They're still coming after all your guns, money, property, borders, and women.  They're just calling it a sexy new name.

Summerfest Attendance Dives

Well, the lazy, hazy, crazy days of Summerfest are........ahhh......deflating.

Attendance in 2014 was 851,000+

Attendance in 2019 was 718,000+

That's a 15% drop in 5 years.

Naturally, Summerfest spun like crazy (and crazy it was!!)

...Despite the fact that there were only 10 amphitheater concerts, and four days of severe thunderstorm warnings, attendance was reported at 718,144.

Had there been the typical 11 amphitheater openings, Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. says festival attendance would be projected at 733,144....

Sure.  And wishes were Unicorns, with Fairy Dust, and all the Children lived Happily Ever After.

This ain't good, friends.

...There have been varying explanations for the blue-striped “temple.” While the Associated Press account of it was benign, INSIDER’s story about it turned up something that is potentially nefarious....

"Returning Donations" Doesn't Mean "Forgetting" Donations

We've seen a lot of politicians get into Holy Picture mode by "returning donations" which came from slimeballs such as Bill Clinton's close friend Epstein, the child-rapist.

Happened in New Mexico, where extreme-Lefty ex-Clinton Energy Secretary Bill Richardson "returned donations" from Clinton's close friend child-rapist Epstein.

Yah, well, Holy Pictures aside.....do you really think that Bill Richardson, friend of Bill and of child-rapist Epstein--also a friend of Bill--FORGOT about a $50,000 donation?

He may have returned it, but .........

On the one hand, we hear Doomsayers (Limbaugh comes to mind) who are convinced that GenX, Y, and Z are irredeemable socialists--thus, the country is doomed after (say) 2050 or so.

On the other hand, we have Scalise, who seems to think otherwise.

What Was Harvard Giving Epstein?

Harvard University temporarily deleted an online calendar disclosing accused pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s on-campus visits with its professors in 2014 following an NBC News inquiry, the outlet reported Friday...

So.  Who was giving what to whom?  Was this a recruiting visit?  And who was doing the recruiting?

Where's Tariffmageddon??

Contrary to the wailing and screeching of the Chamber of Commerce twits and their running-dog lackey RadioMouths, "Tariffmageddon" has not arrived.

...The most recent evidence against what trade expert Alan Tonelson calls Tariffmageddon scaremongering comes from Friday’s release of the producer-price index, which mostly measures the prices businesses receive for their goods and services. This rose a seasonally adjusted 0.1 percent in June from a month earlier, the Labor Department said. From a year earlier, the producer-price index increased by 1.7 percent.

The unchanged prices for goods less food and energy categories is especially notable because the prices for services is showing some healthy signs of inflation, rising 0.4 percent for the month. Goods less food and energy is more or less the “tradeable sector” of the economy and the broadest category where tariffs would show up if they were to hit consumers....

Was Dershowitz a Messenger in Sex Case?

The Palm Beach County prosecutor, Barry Krisher, wanted to let Epstein go free.  This infuriated the cop-shop which had Epstein six ways from Sunday on child-rape and pimping.

The US attorney, Acosta, created a case against Epstein and got some Huber-style jail time AND put him on the sex-offender registry AND gave the victims a pathway to damage suits.

But what about Dershowitz.  Here's an interesting couple of grafs....

...The article alleged investigators who handled the Palm Beach case said Krischer pressured them to downgrade charges against the billionaire to a misdemeanor, or to drop the case completely.

Joseph Recarey, a detective who worked the Epstein case, told The Herald that Alan Dershowtiz, Epstein’s lawyer, flew to Florida to meet privately with Krischer.

Recarey also told The Herald that in May 2006, he drew up probable cause affidavits that charged Epstein and three associates with a slew of sex crimes. But instead of pushing forward with the case, Krischer referred the case to a state grand jury, which returned an indictment on a single count of soliciting prostitution.

According to The Herald, Recarey said Krischer told him he did not believe Epstein’s accusers. Only two out of more than a dozen of Epstein’s alleged victims testified before the grand jury....

So was Dershowitz being a "defense lawyer" or was he really a messenger from Clinton, or others still not mentioned?

With Obama, It Was "America Second. Or Third. Whatever...."

We all know that various US-based government entities can spy on anyone here at will.  They've been doing it for years. 

Now the spying will be done by the Chinese Communists.  Why?  Because Obama (and his idiot VP Biden) ignored all the signs and signals.
