Tony Evers just made a fool out of Robin Vos.
The budget offering from Vos was seriously flawed when it went to Evers' desk. The State had a $7 BILLION surplus, but Vos did not refund one thin dime to taxpayers. Instead, Vos spent huge on "education" (which has failed to "educate" Milwaukee and Madison students for the last 20 years), and created a structural deficit of $2.5 BILLION going into the next budget biennium. Of course, if there is a recession, that $2.5 BILLION could be a lot larger, but Vos can predict the future, right?
Vos also reduced taxes on ALL Wisconsin taxpayers instead of refunding the over-taxation from Vos' last budget, probably the only redeeming value in the Vos budget.
So what does Evers do?
He screwed State prop-tax payers by extending a $325.00/head school-tax increase for the next 400 years or so, which was an obviously underhanded and stupid move. By no co-incidence, "underhanded" and "stupid" describe Tony to a T.
He voided tax relief for 1.7 million middle- and upper-income Wisconsin taxpayers.
He screwed Milwaukee out of $9 million needed to finance its preparations for the Republican National Convention.
Since the State will be keeping that over-taxation, Evers did one partly-good thing; he repaired the upcoming structural deficit. But he also has some control over that money. What could he do with it?
Well, he started by shoving millions into child-mutilation surgery (called 'health care' by the grifter-MD's pushing it). Since he also vetoed sensible economies in the UW two- and four-year systems, he'll be spending lots of money trying to keep failing UW campuses open--no matter how small the student body becomes.
And of course, he'll find ways to stuff even more millions into the pockets of the Teachers' Unions in Wisconsin.
Thanks, Robin! Thanks, Tony!! Centralized Top-Down Government Forever!!
