The Resistance in The Church

News item (lede buried):

World Youth Day (WYD) 2023, to be held in Lisbon, Portugal, is already shaping up to be a grand affair. Just one month from the popular Catholic gathering, the official website of WYD has announced that more than 313,000 pilgrims have registered to attend. While these post-pandemic numbers are lower than those of past WYDs, they demonstrate the desire of young people to return to normalcy and celebrate the Catholic faith....

We un-buried the lede with red pixels.  Translation:  this is the lowest registration EVER.

The superannuated among us remember the Viet Nam-era question:

What if they gave a war and no one came?

Seems apropos in the Era of Francis.

I hope the sentiment towards Francis spills over onto the 26 Jesuit universities in the United States

I hope the Jesuits get it good and hard that way

It is my sense that the Jesuit universities and colleges are over-ripe fruits about to fall from the tree.

No, my use of "fruits" is NOT a pun, tempting as it may be.
