While it is no surprise that Pelosi, Schumer, and Biden*, along with the majority of Democrat members of Congress, want to shove this bill up the nether regions of Americans, it is pleasant to note that the US Bishops have denounced it.
Of course, the Bishops' statement does not go to the heart of the matter, which is the seriously-flawed line of positive law that began with the reversal of Bowers, which was followed by Lawrence and "Justice" Kennedy's raving Libertarian insanity:
"At the heart of liberty is the right to define one's own concept of existence, of meaning, of the universe, and of the mystery of human life."The Bishops won't quote Cdl. Sarah, but they should.
..."From Him [God] we receive our nature as man and woman," he said. "This iintolerable to modern minds. Gender ideology is a Luciferian refusal to receive a sexual nature from God. Thus some rebel against God and pointlessly mutilate themselves in order to change their sex. But in reality they do not fundamentally change anything of their structure as man or woman."
Hmmm. Lucifer, Pelosi, Schumer, Biden*, all dancing in the darkness......hmmmmm.
Anyhow, the Bishops came out with something.
...The proposed legislation is not about treating all people “with equal dignity and respect,” they noted, but would “mandate that all health care professionals and providers perform gender transition procedures that go against many such providers’ best medical judgment, not to mention their deeply held moral or religious convictions.”
The legislation would also “undermine civil rights for women and girls by opening restrooms, locker rooms, and shower facilities to biological males who identify as female,” they declared. “Women and girls deserve access to private spaces when they visit their local gym or use the restroom.”...
Is passage of the "Equality Act" certain? Nope.
Will the US Bishops ever use the language of Cdl. Sarah in any of their documents?
Nope.
