This hardly rates as "news," but........
America, a magazine published by the Jesuits of the United States, encouraged Catholics to ignore Mass obligations in an article on Friday, implying that “conscience” could overrule bishops’ directives....beyond the three examples cited in official church teaching — lack of a priest, illness and caring for infants — the specifics regarding what qualifies as a serious reason for missing Mass are left to individual believers,” it claims.
Oh, really?
The Catechism of the Catholic Church notes that “the faithful are obliged to participate in the Eucharist on days of obligation, unless excused for a serious reason (for example, illness, the care of infants) or dispensed by their own pastor.”
“Those who deliberately fail in this obligation commit a grave sin,” the Church teaches.
Dog bites man. Jebbies contradict Catechism. Sun rises in East.
