US Bishops Making Stuff Up on Housing

The Trump Administration has revoked Obama's 'Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing' administrative orders.  Those orders would have usurped local zoning/housing ordinances by Federal fiat.

Naturally, since Orange Man Bad, the US Bishops had to tell us that Trump's action is Eeeeeeeeeeeevil.

...“Fair housing regulations remain one of the key tools for addressing long-standing inequities and historical disadvantages and must be strengthened, not weakened,” said a July 28 joint statement from two Catholic bishops and the head of Catholic Charities USA.

“As the U.S. bishops wrote 45 years ago in ‘The Right to a Decent Home’ (pastoral message), ‘an absence of racial discrimination is no longer enough. We must insist upon effective programs to remedy past injustice,'” the statement said. “Let us renew this call to action to ensure all people have access to safe, decent and affordable housing.”...

Oh.  ".......to remedy past injustice"..........that sounds a lot like "reparations" doesn't it?  By what principle of moral theology are US citizens of 2020 required to pay for sins committed by US citizens (and previously, subjects of the English King) 50, 175, 300 years ago?  What about descendants of immigrants who only showed up on these shores in the 1900's?  Are they ALSO morally obligated to pay reparations, Excellencies?

Then they start making stuff up.

...Discriminatory practices such as redlining, disinvestment from communities, discriminatory practices in selling or renting homes, and racial and economic segregation have undermined fair housing for generations and continue to harm communities of color today.”...

Really?  "Redlining" has been illegal in Wisconsin for at least FORTY years.

There are fabulists on the Left who tell us that current ethnic housing -patterns exist due to the redlining that's been gone for all those years.  Bishops believe the fabulists.  They expect you to believe them, too.  "Morals," or something.

As to 'discriminatory practices in selling or renting............' that's also illegal by FEDERAL law and based on what I've learned from Wisconsin landlords, the practice(s), by and large, no longer exist.

The Bishops are making it up.  It never occurs to the Bishops that "communities of color" exist because their members WANT them to exist.  They prefer to live in tight-knit communities, just as did the Irish, Italian, Polish, and Germans when they arrived here--and as do the Hispanics and Vietnamese today.

Do they want the crime?  The drugs, murders, robberies, etc.?  Hell, no.  That's why any honest survey comes back with 'keep the police' results, and why vigilantism is now practiced in Minneapolis.

The Bishops would do well to concern themselves with REAL moral matters such as contraception, homosexual practices, and abortion.  They could also leave their palaces and try the 'real world' for a while, but maybe that's asking too much.

In the 40's through the 70's, the anti-Catholic, pro-abortion social engineers dismantled the Catholic ethnic neighborhoods and parishes with "urban renewal" and "racial integration"--and often by literally paving them over. The writings of a number of urban pastors show that they knew what was happening, but bishops slapped such men down. The bishops unanimously joined the choruses of "Racist!" Catholics' political clout was dissolved, as the Catholics themselves were dispersed into the suburbs. Cf. THE SLAUGHTER OF CITIES: URBAN RENEWAL AS ETHNIC CLEANSING.
