Interesting to learn that Eisenhower, "Bull" Halsey, Chester Nimitz, CNO Ernest King, and JCS Chair Bill Leahy ALL opposed using the A-bomb on Japan.
Bet you didn't know that, didja??
It appears that the President of Harvard, along with McGeorge Bundy and James Byrne (ex-SCOTUS justice) persuaded Truman otherwise, and began the myth that 'the Bomb saved American lives.'
Odd, that, as Japan had already begun surrender negotiations in July.
But Harvard had to be preserved. So what's a few hundred thousand little yellow people?
