...Oconomowoc's event is being led by Will
Grosspietsch, one of the organizers of the March 14 walkout at his
school. It will start at 10 a.m., where students will meet outside the
school and march to the green in downtown Oconomowoc, arriving around
10:40 a.m. A rally will then begin at 11 a.m. with student speeches.
Guest
speakers will then speak, starting at 11:50 a.m., each having a 20
minute window. First will be Waukesha County Democratic Party Chairman
Matt Lowe, followed by Khary Penebaker, the Wisconsin member of the
National Democratic National Committee and finally, Mandela Barnes, a
former state representative and candidate for lieutenant governor....
Oconomowoc High academics are ranked 325th or so in the latest W.I.L.L. survey. It occurs to us that the administration might want to concentrate on teaching their students to think, rather than march around and around and around.
(Yesterday, April 19th, was the anniversary of the Shot Heard 'Round the World as the British attempted to impound the arms of the colonists. That didn't turn out well for the British, and that should be a warning to the twit-brigades--child OR adult--trying to run the same game.)
UPDATE: There are, generously, two dozen actual students at the event. There are also two dozen old people (Oconomowoc has a sizeable Lefty population). The police are on hand to keep an eye on the Democrat speakers.

These kids pushing so hard to take away our rights are also the ones pushing to be given the right to vote.
Ummm. The Oconomowoc Enterprise (local news site) posted a video of the protesters. I counted more than 50 students. CollegeSimply.com ranks the school 52nd in the state and shows it has a 97% graduation rate. Niche.com ranks the school 107 our of 454 surveyed (so it's in the top 25%) and gives it an overall grade of B+. SchoolDigger.com ranks the school 96th our of 423 surveyed (again, in the top 25%). And finally, the student speakers at the event will be attending George Washington University, Cornell University, UW Madison, and other noteworthy institutions in the fall. Seems Oconomowoc and the kids are doing just fine thank you.
50, eh? The JS subsidiary said 40. Perhaps 10 or more of the Little Darlings wandered into local eateries on the way to the park? Hmmm?
Irrelevancy: "97% graduation rate."
Equally irrelevant: names of colleges the chilluns will be attending. ANY high school can put several students into choosy colleges and there are colleges which accept "legacy" children, too.
Overall, the event and the hairball leader of the local event fail to impress.
And--just for fun--both Elmbrook and Oconomowoc districts spend about $9500 property tax/K-12 student.
Elmbrook high schools are rated FAR higher than Oconomowoc.
