No Israeli Women in Combat Roles

Another Left-O-Wacky myth, busted.

Women serve in support and combat support roles in the IDF, recently they have been allowed additional options but they still do not serve in active combat.

Around the world there has been some discussion about whether or not women should serve in active front-line combat. In Israel it is clear that despite the vast contribution of women in the military, active combat is not an option. This decision is based on the physical and biological differences between men and women but also for moral reasons. As Michal, a combat fitness instructor in the IDF, says, "No one wants to even think of the possibility of an Israeli girl falling into the hands of the enemy." Our history is already filled with too many such stories of atrocities.

Oh, well.

Maybe they should move on to Global Cooling.  Or Keynesian Economics.

I've been sneered at every time I point this out to some of my lefty pals. The Israelis did a lot of study on this, and said another reason against allowing women in combat roles is that the male soldiers naturally felt it important to "protect" the female soldiers - and that feeling was too deeply ingrained to "train out".

Israeli female military personnel are involved in combat roles, just not direct, front line roles. There is a distinction. So your assertion is patently false.

Moreover, the Caracal Battalion, which consists of 70% female soldiers, patrol the Israeli-Egyptian border, in particular focusing on the Sinai Desert, which is a haven for Islamic militants. No activity or danger there (sarcasm).

And let us not forget that 12,000 women served in military roles in the 1948 Israeli-Arab War, with 114 dying in front-line combat. And, yes, the majority of females were eventually removed from their duties (men sought to protect them from being raped), but their contributions are duly noted.

The incidence of rape by enemy captors is much less common than being raped by one's fellow soldiers.

Anony 9:39 a.m.--Cite a source as evidence before you make such pronouncements.

As to women being killed during combat: that doesn't even deserve a response. The term 'fog of war' is not applied by accident.

Since you are denigrating the contributions of female soldiers, most notably Netiva Ben Yehuda, during a war of independence, then you better cite specific evidence to prove your assertion. Otherwise, you come across as a pompous, uninformed ass.

And an anti-Semite.

Unless you have definitive proof Dad29 is anti-Semitic, shut the hell up. I'm sure Dad29 is doing his research to support his claim. There will be a rebuttal shortly...[snicker, cough, snicker].
