...For the second time in about a month, town officials were poised to approve a plan to allow the operators of the McMiller Sports Center shooting range in the Kettle Moraine State Forest's Southern Unit to sell and rent firearms at the range's pro shop.
And for the second time, the issue was put on hold Tuesday night at the request of the operators, who apparently are balking for now at signing a plan of operation that would impose some conditions on the gun sales and rentals and other things the range wants to do. Among them, requiring the operators annually to submit to the town a list of items to be sold or rented so that the town can review and approve them...
"A list of items to be sold?" "Can review and approve them"?
Get serious. This is harassment; it's designed to discourage the operators (to say the least.)
One of the movers-and-shakers in the township is going to make life difficult for McMiller operations. He/she can't push the range out and can't impose draconian operating limits, as DNR actually owns the place and will protect its investment.
(The way we've heard it, that mover/shaker has real estate interests which are affected by McMiller's presence.)
But tossing a bunch of nails on the highway? Hey, no problem!!
