Some Deer Stats

Interesting stuff here from a study in the UP:

Coyotes in the study area were responsible for 13 fawn mortalities, followed by bobcat (9)...

Annual survival of adult and yearling female deer was 73%. Survival of fawns was 37%.

Coyotes are the #1 cause of deer-death, not cars.

I seen the same article.

From what I can find it's a 10 year study at a min cost of $3,000,000. I tried to find the research and cannot find anything that matches.

I'm wondering if it's a puff piece to keep the bad pr off the wolf population. Mississippi State's main work is with coyotes.

Will fill you in if I find anything more.

It's not that I distrust Mr Smith at JS, but.......

have a GREAT day.
