Another blogger is in high dudgeon about this post in which I quoted Vox:
The truth is that no one will protect you – not the police, not the part-time security guard, not the staff of whatever business you are patronizing and not the national armed forces. You must take responsibility for protecting yourself, and the only means to do that is to ensure that you are appropriately armed whenever you intend to go out in public regardless of what the local laws might say.
The ninny-blogger who objects begins by building a straw-man, and goes downhill from there.
In any case, here we discover just what a motivated and enraged bunch of civilians can actually do:
Caught in a car with its tires blown out the Mumbai terrorist was told by the police to come out with his hands up. Instead, the terrorist pulled out a pistol and shot 3 policemen dead. That's when the Indian crowd decided to do the job the police were meant to do. They beat his a$$ on the street.
(Video of the beating available at the link)
The only question I have is this: why didn't the cops simply shoot the SOB on sight?

Note: They beat him. They did not shoot him. They did not need guns.
Yah, but personally, I don't like to get my hands all bloody.
Gunpowder residue, yes.
Blood--not if I can help it.
