Texas Goes to Bob Barr

Well--maybe.

Here's the official letter:

The Democratic Party, and Mr. Obama and the Republican Party and Mr. McCain blatantly ignored the Texas statutory deadline.

Therefore, the Libertarian candidate for president, Bob Barr, as represented by his principal campaign committee, Bob Barr 2008, demands that your office keep the names of Barack Obama, Joe Biden, John McCain and Sarah Palin off the Texas general election ballot.

Failure of the Secretary of State to comply with Texas law will result in serious legal consequences

The statutory deadline was August 26th.

Think there might be some sort of workaround?

There's a workaround for the big two.

They'll claim that they filed the form, and that the law says the form has to be filed, and that the form has spaces for the candidates, but that the law allows the form that specifies the candidates to be filed without specifying the candidates.

Libertarians have never been cut that kind of slack, having their ballot access denied due to uncrossed "i"s and un-dotted "t"s time and time again.

Or, something like that...

Who'd you rather have at the top of the ticket? Ron Paul or Bob Barr? And assuming either one would appoint Pastor Huckabee as Secy of State, Mitt to Treasury and Rudy! as Atty General...if only we could get rid of John Bush and Sarah Plain and Tall and institute some real housecleaning in DC!

I believe Gravel was referencing a "reacharound"?
