It is reported in Human Events (6/26) that "several guests at the 'President's Dinner' of June 19th--a fundraiser--reported that 'there was no applause whatsoever and an awkward silence, in the five minutes [Bush] talked about immigration'"--that is, specifically, while Bush was talking about 'amnesty.'
Maybe GWB got the hint. At least AnkleBitingPundits thinks so:
According to this NYT article (which admittedly makes it suspect), the President is finally willing to consider an "enforcement first" immigration bill like the one sponsored by Indiana Congressman Mike Pence.
