Until Katrina

A lot of people drive older vehicles until those vehicles can drive no more. We've done it; it's the "drive 'em until they're dead" school.

The valuation of such vehicles was often measured in unusual ways--typically beginning with $0.00 or so, and one dark-humored method was "Depends on how much gas is in the tank."

Until Katrina, that method never really produced a high value.

Now, one can drive junk worth in excess of $75.00 just by filling the tank...and at the rate it's going, the rustbucket could appreciate by 30 to 50% in a weekend!

Yeah, but I fill up your tank when I sell you a car, so, they cancel each other out...
