Researchers from the University of Wisconsin worked for nearly a decade with partners in China on sensitive technology projects that likely helped China build its notorious domestic surveillance apparatus, including in Xinjiang province, where the Chinese are accused of brutal repression of the ethnic Uyghur population, a new report has found.
