Trump's decapitation of the Drug/Crime/Rape cartel in Venezuela was never really about "oil," no matter how hard the Democrats and MSM (BIRM) try to make it so.
It was about getting Mexico, Colombia, and a few other countries in our hemisphere to straighten out their acts- - or else.
It was also telling Red China to leave. Now.

This is multipolarity. “The discourse in China’s policymaking circles has shifted toward a potential trade-off,” the article said. “If the Western Hemisphere belongs to the Americans, then the Taiwan Strait belongs to the Chinese.” The best guess from up in the cheap seats is that Beijing’s analysts are exactly right. President Trump will let them have Taiwan, at least to some politically palatable extent. But China must get out of our backyard....
By the way, Trump & Putin understand each other very well:

China CLAIMS sovereignty over the strait as part of its territory, while Taiwan and many other countries, including the U.S., maintain it is international waters.
