US House 'On Break' for Weekend

Yesterday we happened to catch Jay Weber during his totally-unhinged rant about "idiot" Gaetz and 'non-functional' Government and lions & elephants & tigers, O My, and the End of the World b/c No Speaker!

Must be really important to have a Speaker, if you think Weber is an important oracle, instead of a Gallagher spox.

...after nominating Jordan, the conference took a second secret ballot vote, to gauge support for Jordan now that he was nominee. On this vote, Jordan came away with 152 votes for him, and 55 against, far short of the 217 he would need in a formal vote on the House floor.

Following the second vote, lawmakers broke for the weekend, with few signs of what would come next....

Damned important.  SO important that they're back home cutting the lawn or sumpin'-sumpin'

Could it be that Weber is wrong--again??

Israel asks U.S. for Hellfire missiles

by Courtney Kube

Israeli officials have asked the U.S. to send more Hellfire missiles, according to two officials familiar with the conversations.

The U.S. has not approved the request but has it under consideration, the officials said.

The U.S. is also working on plans to provide Israel with medical supplies for the Israel Defense Forces, the officials said.

“Prompt U.S. security assistance has already arrived and more is on its way and will be reaching Israel in the forthcoming days,” a U.S. military official said. “While we understand the interest in specific details, we cannot delve into those right now."

“We are engaged in comprehensive coordination across the Department of Defense. This includes working closely with CENTCOM to ascertain which munitions and equipment from the U.S. inventory can be quickly made available for Israel’s needs,” the military official said.

The Biden administration has sent at least two shipments of munitions to Israel since the deadly assault by Hamas a week ago.

The munitions include interceptors for the Iron Dome air defense system, cluster bombs known as DPICMS, JDAM conversion kits — which turn “dumb” or unguided bombs into “smart” or precision-guided bombs — and other large ammunition.

The U.S. has sold Hellfire missiles to Israel in the past. They are primarily laser-guided air-to-ground missiles often referred to as fire-and-forget-it missiles because the operator sets the target and fires it. The Israeli military has fired them from helicopters in past conflicts with Hamas.
