How the Democrats Do It

C.S.Lewis' Perelandra (the last second book of his trilogy) is reviewed here.  In the midst of the essay, we find that Lewis knows very well how the Democrats/Leftists--and often Republican 'rightists'--gain their votes by pretending to be virtuous.

...The problem with debating with evil is one which Christians have encountered time and again but which bears remembering: evil is not simply the opposite of good. It is good that has been bent and marred. Ransom’s arguments fail more times than they succeed because the Un-man uses mostly truth to support the deepest falsehoods. In admonishing her to break Maleldil’s commandment out of true piety, or out of unselfish regard for others, the Un-man should remind readers of certain pastoral and humanitarian calls to excuse sin in the name of charity, or to condone deeply damaging actions for the sake of “the weakest among us.”...

Always the subtle lie, the partial-truth.  Few American students have been trained in rigorous analysis of moral questions--and even fewer have been trained in What.  Is.  True.

Lewis' tale warns us that failure should be expected, but not accepted.

Pray harder!

That Hideous Strength was the last book....Perelandra was #2 (and the best of the 3)....sublimely beautiful read.

oh man!...I jsut read the review and I think she totally misses it: The mood after the battle between Ransom and the evil one and the crowning of the King and Queen is decidedly bittersweet...yes evil was bested and the Venus fall doesn't happen, but there is a sadness in the queen about that....she reflects how they will never know what we have....God made flesh, kneading His creation into His own bloodstream....God with our face and a beating Heart, given for us.....God we can touch. Felix Culpa indeed!.....she missed it.
