We watched this game last night and learned that the ball-handler was the son of Butch Lee, the MU ball-handler during the Al McGuire years and the 1977 NCAA Championship.
Wow.
Maybe Butch Lee was advising St. Peter's coach, because we saw the "scrambled eggs" move. McGuire used that early in his time at Marquette; he would replace the entire team with subs for 5 minutes or so. St. Peter did the same thing. Was McGuire crazy? Maybe. It's an OODA-loop move and variants abound. Trump was very successful with 'crazy' when dealing in foreign policy, e.g.
But the 'scrambled eggs' thing really hit home when it was announced that Matthew Lee was Butch's kid.
Memories!
