Well he's a repeat winner now, with his new book The Benedict Option 2: Deep Space making a great case for Christians blasting off into the black in order to avoid worldly influence. Space: the faithful frontier!His was second only to Donald Trump's Art of the Deal, meaning that if Dreher whines just a bit louder, longer, and more convincingly about how Catholics are all mean and stuff, he could place first next time around.
(It is not true that Catholics have shopped Dreher's church membership to the Baptists. Catholics have principles.)

An unnecessarily nasty piece.
avoiding occasions of sin is a spiritual requirement.
Mr. Dreher is a superb writer.
traditionalists do their cause no good by letting their mask slip... that there is another option of Tradition to avoid the putrid mainstream church - lovely orthodoxy and its' rituals - it is this that is motivating the unjust attacks on Mr. Dreher.
Bear this in mind: Benedict XVI ordered that 2 church buildings be given away to the Russian Orthodox church outside of Russia - on in Rome and one near Lisbon. And so they were.
Actually, this was not 'nasty' at all. It is quite witty.
And it certainly is not as malevolent towards Rod Dreher as he often is towards others.
As for whether Dreher is a 'superb writer,' one can only ask compared to whom?
