....it's tuned to the Disney channel which is running some show that
appears to be about teenagers, geared to a teenaged audience. I wasn't
much paying attention until I noticed a basketball game going on. It
appeared to be some kind of a one-on-one grudge match between two
protagonists, one of which was some guy that looked like he was supposed
to be an arrogant douchebag, and his opponent was a girl.
Naturally, the girl won.
The game consisted of a rapid-fire series of cuts that showed the
girl making jump shots over the top of the douchebag, getting around him
for an easy layup, smacking the ball out of his hands while he was
dribbling, and making nothing-but-net 3-pointers. And then after the
game, she trash talks him and stalks off the court in triumph, leaving
him abject and humiliated.....
And then recalls a similarly-idiotic '50's thing....
We laugh at those old 50s TV shows that showed married couples sleeping
in separate beds. Ho ho ho, we laugh. They're trying to pretend sex
doesn't exist. How puritanical. How silly.
Yah. Just as stupid, with only the ends differing.
