The Brewers Gonna Hit You Again

We mentioned this a decade ago.  Tommy Thompson (et al) "negotiated" taxpayer support for the Brewers' ballpark.  That is to say, taxpayers paid a helluvalot of money to help Bud Selig increase his cap-gains on the team.

We also mentioned that the deal was never-ending; taxpayers are on the hook for "improvements."  So if you liked paying sales-tax to help out Brewers' owners, you're going to LOVE this story!!

What "improvements"?

...Schlesinger told board members the Brewers want to stay in Milwaukee through at least 2040. He also said the club doesn't need a new ballpark.

The team, however, does want a ballpark that "is suitable for the next generation," he said.

Schlesinger didn't elaborate on what a next generation ballpark would include.

But, he said, the stadium district's obligations under the lease include changes tied to the evolving standards of other Major League Baseball stadiums....

They have $87 million in reserve.  Shouldn't take them too long to blow that on "evolving standards" for MLB stadiums, should it?
