Francis I Does What Was Rumored. Relax!

This has been in the rumor-mill for a couple of months.

...Art. 1. The liturgical books promulgated by Saint Paul VI and Saint John Paul II, in conformity with the decrees of Vatican Council II, are the unique expression of the lex orandi of the Roman Rite.

Art. 2. It belongs to the diocesan bishop, as moderator, promoter, and guardian of the whole liturgical life of the particular Church entrusted to him, [5] to regulate the liturgical celebrations of his diocese. [6] Therefore, it is his exclusive competence to authorize the use of the 1962 Roman Missal in his diocese, according to the guidelines of the Apostolic See....

The critical component:  it is left to the Bishop of any Diocese to 'regulate' the Mass.  Most US Bishops will fill out the paperwork and leave things as they are.  It's also possible that MORE Extraordinary Form Masses will be offered, by the way, even though priests using the Old Rite must get permission to do so.

There will be lots of click-bait posts from the usual suspects regarding this instruction.  Keep calm and carry on.

One more thing:  Francis/Bergoglio is analogous to Biden* in that both are very weak figures and both are 'managed' by the far-Left within the ranks.  Both will pass to their reward and both will be succeeded by individuals with different leanings.

UPDATE:  Since the document has incoherent instructions, Bishops will be running their 'delay game' requesting clarifications, yadayada.  Francis will have gone to his eternal reward long before the dust settles on his document, which by then may have been shredded by supercession.

  1. I attended the Old Rite latin services for many years, until the Church imploded with infighting. And then the church closed down.
It was a great service with nice traditions.
Now, I have not figured out to go to church. I really don't want to a socialist Catholic church, which is the case of many churches. Protestant churches turn me off, so I am stuck.

  2. The Bishop of Phoenix is a solid dude. Go to his Cathedral.

  3. You have way too much faith in the bishops....hope your church has an associated school gym, because that's where you'll be doing the Mass of Ages from now on.

  4. The bishop of Little Rock immediately terminated the old Mass in three venues, effective immediately, as those venues are in "parochial churches." Two other parishes staffed by the FSSP are allowed to remain operating.

However, for all those people in the "parochial parishes" who thought they would be going to the old Mass tomorrow in that jurisdiction... well, they're not. Effective immediately.

One of the parishes is 124 miles away from the nearest FSSP venue.

    From the "Pope of Mercy"?

  5. Shutting down Masses and denying the Sacraments to the faithful seems to be a habit for some of these guys.

  6. I've already heard the priests in my diocese publicly declare they will obey the bishop, HOWEVER, the bishop is not enforcing these new rules. In my parish over 22 families have joined since Sept 2020, and I know of families who come every wk to the TLM who have not joined. The bishop isn't stupid, if he enforces we all run to the not-too-far brand new SSPX. And take our
    parish-saving money with us.

  7. SOME Bishops will cut off TLM, no doubt. But St Monica (above) hit an important refrain with her mention of MONEY.

  8. Dad29: I just today listened to a podcast with Chris Ferrara who said the TLM people are cash cows! haha But it's true! And we show up, no matter what.
