Since Tommy Barrett's "Health" department decided to close ALL schools within the City of Milwaukee, there has been some discussion of the "reasoning".
So, like good little bureaucrats (and toadies), the "Health" department issued its excuse for this disruption:
“We are waiting for federal and state guidance. And without such, believed it was not appropriate to allow schools to open without these detailed plans.”
Which raises the question: If the "Health" department acts only on Fed/State guidance, why bother having a City "Health" department at all?
Hmmmmm??
Of course, this is bullshit. Milwaukee Public Schools know that if the private and parochials open for business--like Wauwatosa, e.g.--MPS will lose another large batch of students victims. Both MPS administration and Da Union were on Barrett's ass about that.....ergo, no school.
A large study out of South Korea showed that children in the 10-19 age category showed the highest rates of transmission of COVID-19 of any age group, he said. And in Milwaukee County, school-age children, ages 10-19, have in the last two weeks been testing positive for COVID-19 at substantially higher rates than before, he said.
