What Changed in Only 90 Years?
Having been in three different parish churches during this summer, NONE of which were of the 'wacko-Cath' persuasion, I've often been shocked over what I've seen women and teen-aged girls wearing and not wearing in the nave.
I'll spare you any descriptions, but I am certain that none of the Kardashians are members of these congregations, even though their fashions certainly are present.
Anyhow, only 90-ish years ago, there was this. What changed??
Don't just limit your observations to women. While women assumed the attire of skanks, men assumed the attire of slobs that crawled from an alley. Men who dressed in jacket and tie 15 years ago now won't even tuck in their shirt tails - and that is tee shirts, by the way.
As to Unknown's comment: men are no longer men. They simper, whine, and get what they deserve in return: nothing. Moreover, they no longer protect their wives and daughters; they're too busy worrying about golf scores.
Remember that for the last 10 years +++, priests have NEVER read that passage from Paul about 'wives be submissive.' Those priests are also simpering wimps. The passage should be chiseled into the entryway of every church in the world.
We tend to always zero in on women's modesty dress, but men have the same obligations to modesty. I cannot understand why a grown man would want to go around in public, let alone in Church with short pants. Shorts, children? Yes, adult men? No. In the privacy of the home, at a pool or beach, fine, but not into society.
Yah, sorry, but I wear shorts in the summer. Cargo shorts--so they're knee-length. Useful b/c lots of pockets. Keys, phone, wallet, kerchiefs, and concealed pistol. Maybe even some cash.

ReplyDeleteEven when men dress conservatively, their wives and daughters dress immodestly. Explain that to me, please.
ReplyDeleteDC is right...worse than tee-shirts are the damn SHORTS.

I'm sure Pp Francis will order it so.
I live near a Carmelite convent that has a similar sign pasted on their front door. They mean it too.

ReplyDeleteOf you don't wear shorts, you are not outside in the summertime.
