Glenn Reynolds has several good points here....
According to Foreign Affairs magazine, Americans reject the advice of experts so as "to insulate their fragile egos from ever being told they’re wrong.”...
Well, that's not a very good start, is it? You can almost see the pointy little heads bobbing up and down, agreeing that Ma & Pa Brown-Bagger are just stupid beyond redemption.
Or, in one word, "Deplorable."
Umnnhhh, well,....
...Americans might look back on the last 50 years and say, “What have
experts done for us lately?” Not only have the experts failed to deliver
on the moon bases and flying cars they promised back in the day, but
their track record in general is looking a lot spottier than it was in,
say, 1965....
Then there was McNamara's Vietnam, the Kerner Commission's War on Poverty, the un-foreseen collapse of the Soviet Union, the similarly un-foreseen Brexit, and of course the Cubs' World Series victory.
He also mentions the idiot-gnome Bernanke, who has arguably caused the longest recession in US history, and certainly the greatest one.
Anyhow, the Experts are unhappy with the derision they earned. Shed a tear for them, eh?
