Common Core Is a Honeytrap

Perhaps the single most important reason that Common Core should be disavowed by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee lies in Deneen's speech to the Philadelphia Society.  Recognize, first, that Common Core IS a Federally-imposed program, regardless of the weasel-wording of its proponents (who, by the way, are largely from the (D-Statist) Party.)

Now, then, Deneen examines "The Life of Julia":

...We begin to see this with ever-growing clarity in our own times—a new, kinder and gentler total State. It promises its citizenry liberty at every turn, and that liberty involves ever-greater freedom from the partial institutions of civil society, or ones remade in accordance with the aims of the State. The states as sovereign political units have been almost wholly eviscerated, and are now largely administrative units for the federal government....

Note well:  "Julia" has "liberty"--or so the ad told us.  But there are clouds on that sunny horizon.

...Satisfied with that victory, we now see extraordinary efforts to “break” two institutions that have always been most resistant to the total State: churches and family. We see an unprecedented efforts by the Federal government to abridge religious liberty by conscripting religious institutions like Little Sisters of the Poor (and my institution, Notre Dame) to be agents conscripted into providing abortifacients, sterilization and contraception—in the name of individual liberty. We can expect determined and even ferocious efforts to bend Churches to accept gay marriage as a norm, even to the point of forcing them entirely out of the civil realm. And we see increasing efforts of the government to “liberate” children from their families—represented perhaps most chillingly by the MSNBC clip showing Melissa Harris-Perry explaining how the greatest obstacle to State education has been the pervasive notion that kids “belong” to families rather than belonging “collectively to all of us.”...

The demolition of Church and family.  Just what the State wants.

And the Archbishop hands over his children to the authors.

Pot, Kettle, Chisholm!

Perhaps the most ironic squeal from John Chisholm:

Chisholm charges the plaintiffs’ complaint was “drafted for media consumption rather than compliance with the Rules of Civil Procedure.”

Chisholm ought to know about "media consumption."  He has Dan Bice on speed-dial.

Squealing and wailing; the angst of teenaged girls.

The Chasm Between D.C. and Real America

Charlie Cook observes that the Democrat party should avoid "the recovery" in their politicking.

What goes UN-said is the wide chasm between D.C./Beltway 'dwellers' (to be polite) and the rest of the country think regarding the economy.  That chasm is hinted at in this graf:

...From a political perspective, what a cross section of American voters think of the economy matters more than a panel of the top economists. Last month's NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll showed that 57 percent of Americans believe we are still in a recession; just 41 percent say we are not, with pessimism just gradually diminishing over the last few years. It is what average people think that's important, not what economists say....

The only "recovery" going full steam is the one in D.C. and the Beltway.  Other regions vary from godawful to mediocre, with only a couple of other bright spots--North Dakota's oil-shale area being the only Midwestern one that comes to mind offhand.

Not to worry.  The (R) Party figures that cheap labor and ObozoCare Lite will remedy the recession.

Be happy!!  (And Buy More Ammo.)

Just How Dumb IS Scott Fitzgerald?

Long story short:  Walker and the Assembly Pubbies knew that the State's Voter ID law was shaky, and Adelman knocked it down.

The Assembly Pubbies passed a bulletproof version of Voter ID.  Walker supported it.

Scott Fitzgerald, (R-Useless) decided to stuff the bill into the memory hole, betting against......well.....his far smarter brethren.

Now the scramble starts again.

Does anyone know why Scott Fitzgerald holds the position he does?

What RoJo Rolled Over For

Our "Promise to Repeal" Senator has flip-flopped.

Great.

This is the sort of crap that he's accomodating.

...Federal systems have been facing problems transferring accurate information to state Medicaid agencies for months. HealthCare.gov is supposed to direct applications of customers eligible for Medicaid to state agencies, which should be able to confirm eligibility and finally enroll the applicant, but miscommunication in states across the country have forced customers to sign up again.

It’s not clear whether the problem lies within federal or state technology or both, but HHS’ seems to be putting the onus on state agencies to solve any problems on their own....

...The Washington Post reported in January that software defects in HealthCare.gov’s back-end systems were preventing over 100,000 Americans from being fully enrolled in Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program. HealthCare.gov couldn’t properly communicate eligible Medicaid applicants’ information to state agencies, preventing them from verifying the applications and creating thousands of backlogs themselves.

Even today, major back-end components of HealthCare.gov have still not yet been built.

Next we'll read that RoJo has become the Common Core Czar.

Common Core = Workforce Development

Underlying the debate over Common Core is this:

...the ... plan is to train children in specific jobs to serve the workforce and the global economy rather than educate them so they can make their own life choices.

That's the revolution.

Education has never been about "job training" for the proletariat, except in certain sorts of economies which are in favor with the current Administration.  What is proposed by Common Core enthusiasts--and happily implemented by the....ahhh.......useless idiots....is really vocational/technical stuff.

They wish to manufacture little robots.  If that's what you think of your children, well.......

How Long For RoJo?

Now we are told that the (R) Party intends to keep ObozoCare in force.

So.

How long will RoJo remain in office?

Even more:  how long will he remain a Republican?

UPDATE:  Never mind.  RoJo joined the cave-crowd.  So much for "promises,", eh?

Now "You can keep your plan" is joined by "I will fight to REPEAL ObamaCare" in the list of Big Lies.

10th Amendment? Not Here!

Fifty years from now, chilluns will be learning that the most perverse Attorney General in US history was Eric Holder.  Working for a Communist President won't be an excuse.   It just earns the appellation 'running dog.'

Anyhow,

More than a year after the U.S. Department of Justice began shoving its nose into Wisconsin’s School Choice program, the federal agency’s “ongoing investigation” continues without any apparent end. And while the state Department of Public Instruction has tepidly told DOJ the federal Justice Department doesn’t have authority to push its power trip on the state, DPI has seemingly been willing to assist in what school choice supporters see as nothing more than an ill-advised fishing expedition...In short, DOJ believes Wisconsin’s School Choice, or Parental Choice, program has discriminated against students with disabilities.

It's the same bulls*&^ that the Teachers' Union has been spouting for a decade.  Never was the case, never will be the case--but hey!  Harassment and intimidation can be useful.

There is a significant objection to Holder's crap-crusade made by DPI's own lawyer:

...“DOJ seeks to commandeer a state agency (DPI) to enforce a law against private schools that does not apply to them through means that the state agency has no authority to employ,”...

It's that pesky 10th Amendment stuff.

...By demanding Wisconsin “adopt burdensome regulation on its school choice program,” Szafir said the Justice Department is essentially trying to “rewrite state education policy from Washington, D.C.”...

This Administration is the single most evil group of jerkwads ever collected in one place.

And it's not a co-incidence that most of the Choice schools are Lutheran and Catholic.

Madistan Never Changes

Since the (R) sweep of the Wisconsin government, the tendency is to sorta forget about the real nature of Madistan, the city.

Don't.  The virulent infection that is the teachers' union can spread its pus any time.

...In her freshman year, Madison East did not offer the Pledge every morning. Her family decided to talk to the principal and school board, reminding them that it is a state law to offer the Pledge every day....

...her school board finally obliged and started to offer the Pledge of Allegiance daily.

Samantha told me: “this went on without issue from around January of 2013 until March 4th, 2014.” On March 4th, Samantha says her school began to remove “under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance, and added that they thought they were “above the law.” On the first day of revision, they took out the entire line “one nation under God.” The next day, they merely skipped the words “under God.” On the third day, Thursday March 6th, 2014, they replaced the word “God” with “peace.”...

Oh,  That's right.  Mary Burke was a member of that school board, ain'a?

Think ObozoCare Covers You? Think Again

Nice little story here out of California.

...Much to her surprise, Michael discovered that Anesthesiology Consultants of Marin was not in her network.

... Michael said information on Anthem Blue Cross's website indicated that the Marin Hospitalists Medical Group was also outside Blue Cross' network of providers for Covered California customers.

...The dawning of Obamacare has resulted in confusion over which medical groups supplying ancillary services to the hospitals — anesthesiologists, radiologists, pathologists and hospitalists — have contracted with Blue Shield and Anthem Blue Cross to serve their new Affordable Care Act customers. The insured with these plans must pay substantially more for any service provided by a doctor outside their insurer's network of providers.

In fact, Blue Shield's exclusive provider organization (EPO) customers in Marin must pay 100 percent of the cost for out-of-network services....

Let's remember that the (R) Party has decided to cave on ObozoCare.  That's because they *care* about their constituents, of course.

HT:  Grim's Hall

The (R) Cave-In

Announced by the chairwoman of the House (R) Conference.

...U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers said it’s unlikely the Affordable Care Act will be repealed.
“We need to look at reforming the exchanges,” the Eastern Washington Republican said Thursday.

... the framework established by the law likely will persist and reforms should take place within its structure.

Oh, goodie.  What that really means is that the (R) bunch will extract its pound of campaign-contribution flesh from various interest groups while "reforming" the law.  That's what passes for "governance" these days.

More, this on immigration:

...McMorris Rodgers said she still thinks a deal could be struck before the election. “I believe there is a path that we get a bill on the floor by August,” she said.

...she said she’d support a bill that grants legal status to those undocumented immigrants working toward citizenship, allowing them to remain in the country to work and go to school while they wait their turn in the current system.

Now watch the linguistic flip-floppery here:

“We’re going to have to push that this is a legal status, not amnesty,” she said.

IOW, if you've skipped the line and evaded the law for long enough, you'll have "legal status" and remain in the country.

Sorta like now, except for "legal status."

Bundy: Clumsy, but "Racist"?

Ol' Cliven is no double-talking politician, nor is he aware of the legendary ability of the NYSlimes to slice, dice, and edit his remarks.

Look at the full, unedited, tape.  He's not silver-tongued, but I don't see a "racist" here.

As usual, ColdFury has it nailed pretty well:

...while we watch in disgust as weak-kneed “moderate” conservatives predictably skitter away again from principle for their perpetually-hoped-for pat on the head from liberal-fascist diabolicals for being good little PC poodles (a pat on the head they never seem to receive), we need to remember something: all this was inevitable, and it was no accident; this is how our enemies operate.

Anybody who didn’t smell this noxious manipulation coming from a mile away simply hasn’t been paying attention these last several decades. Not to minimize the Phase One victory for the forces of freedom or anything, but it’s still early days here, and the Alinsky-Obama regime hasn’t by any means shot all the bolts from this particular quiver yet. The enemy is playing the long game, of course and as usual; this is battlespace preparation, and nothing more nor less. Remember: all they really have to do is discredit Bundy in the eyes of their own base to adequately justify the action they really want and intend to take. The rest of us can argue about it till the cows come home (sorry) for all they care: Reid and son will have their lucrative ChiCom/green weenie land grab; the BLM will remain every bit as powerful as before; and the Bundys and the militia will still be rendered just as hors de combat, in one way or another.

Media Matters and the NYT are propaganda arms of the federal enemies of Constitutional government; ever-reliable hack Nagourney was sent to the Bundy ranch to gather not news but ammunition for his federal masters. The only proper, the only possible response to every man Jack of them remains: FUCK YOU.

...and Buy More Ammo.

By the way, there are better-qualified commenters on Bundy's character than the BlobPress and its infection, the Democrat Party.

Didn't Know You Owe? Too Bad!

Seems like there was a snafu on UW-M student loans

...The university contracted with a private firm to notify and bill graduates who have student loans. That company, which contracts with the entire UW system, incorrectly processed the information.

... The school has been contacting the students, but the bad news for Legan and the others, is that the U.S. Department of Education said the students are required to repay any interest on those loans, whether they knew about it or not....

I would think that the "private firm"--whoever that is--should be smacked with several hundred lawsuits demanding damages.

Surprised that Great Lakes Higher Education hasn't been mentioned in this story.  *Cough*  If they are NOT the "private firm", they ought to make that clear immediately.

It's a Lot More Than Miller Park

The BizJournal will run a story about the $500 million arena problem.

From the preview:

...Curtis and other local politicians in counties surrounding Milwaukee said they resent what they view as Milwaukee politicians historically demanding that suburban counties help pay for projects in Milwaukee. The prime example of that is Miller Park, where a 0.1 percent sales tax on Milwaukee and four other counties continues paying off the stadium’s construction debt....

Umnnnnhhh, not quite.

THE prime example is the taxation of suburbs to remedy Downtown Milwaukee's poop problem, a/k/a MMSD's "Deep Tunnel."   After having paid billions of dollars, Milwaukee continues to dump poop into Lake Michigan, but now it goes into tunnels first!

More contemporary is Barrett's attempt to have every user of W.E. electricity and Ma Bell phones pay for the City of Milwaukee's ChooChoo to Nowhere.  Only $25 million (!!)

A Little History from Grim

Grim reminds us that some battles can be won.

Anniversaries, Sen. Reid.  Best think about them.

"Bullying" B.S.

From all the hooohaaaa on the local airwaves, it would seem that "bullying" is the growth industry in schools.

Wrong.

...Advocates of the Safe and Supportive Minnesota Schools Act portray bullying as an urgent and escalating problem, though surveys by the U.S. Department of Justice indicate that bullying is actually declining in American schools. But a closer look reveals an unsettling truth: This campaign—and the legislation it has spawned—is not so much about stopping bad behavior as it is about using the machinery of state education to compel children to adopt politically correct attitudes on the nature of human sexuality, gender identity, and alternative family structures....

It's not about the non-issue of "bullying."  It's about the Left's intolerance of speech and thought which does not conform with the homosexual agenda.

It Begins in Massachusetts!!

Here's the source, and here's the news:

National Guard units seeking to confiscate a cache of recently banned assault weapons were ambushed on April 19 by elements of a para-military extremist faction. Military and law enforcement sources estimate that 72 were killed and more than 200 injured before government forces were compelled to withdraw.

... [The Governor of Massachusetts] blamed the extremists for recent incidents of vandalism directed against internal revenue offices. The governor, who described the group's organizers as "criminals," issued an executive order authorizing the summary arrest of any individual who has interfered with the government's efforts to secure law and order.

The military raid on the extremist arsenal followed wide-spread refusal by the local citizenry to turn over recently outlawed assault weapons. [The Governor] issued a ban on military-style assault weapons and ammunition earlier in the week. This decision followed a meeting in early this month between government and military leaders at which the governor authorized the forcible confiscation of illegal arms....

...Government troops initially succeeded in confiscating a large supply of outlawed weapons and ammunition. However, troops attempting to seize arms and ammunition in Lexington met with resistance from heavily-armed extremists who had been tipped off regarding the government's plans.

During a tense standoff in the Lexington town park, National Guard Colonel Francis Smith, commander of the government operation, ordered the armed group to surrender and return to their homes. The impasse was broken by a single shot, which was reportedly fired by one of the right-wing extremists....

Sen Harry Reid was not available for comment.

Next Chapter for Nevada and Bunker

Reported from the scene.

....Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has promised local media that "this isn't over." And, in truth, reports on the Internet of Fed cops of various agencies' jack-booted thug teams flooding into Las Vegas hotels are certainly correct. They are there by the hundreds, taking over entire floors, playing the slot machines and trying to look inconspicuous, which is working out about as well as you might expect. This is known to just about everybody who's paying attention to the situation in Bunkerville, including the local media who are not reporting it, for now.....

Hmmmm.  2 AM raid, or broad daylight?  CS, flashbangs, or RPG's?

Crimes Disappear, Voters Appear. It's Chicago

Vegas Badger cites this report in full.  Here's the money quote:

...Take “index crimes”: the eight violent and property crimes that virtually all U.S. cities supply to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for its Uniform Crime Report. According to police figures, the number of these crimes plunged by 56 percent citywide from 2010 to 2013—an average of nearly 19 percent per year—a reduction that borders on the miraculous....

And of course, dead men vote in Chicago.  There's a sci-fi book in there, somewhere.

Oh, Goodie!! More Solyndra!!

It's no wonder that the Reid Dynasty wants Bundy off the land.

The U.S. Energy Department on Wednesday unveiled a plan for up to $4 billion in loan aid for renewable energy companies to help rejuvenate a program that faced harsh political attacks over past failures of federally subsidized projects.

The Obama administration’s draft plan would provide loan guarantees for innovative projects that limit or avoid greenhouse gas emissions.

It will specifically focus on advanced electric grid technology and storage, biofuels for conventional vehicles, energy from waste products and energy efficiency.....Reuters quoted at Malkin

Let's set up the over/under on "how many of the $4 Billion will be totally lost."

Takers?

Surrexit Christus!

May you find the empty tomb and rejoice in the Lamb.

Paul Harvey, Prophet

Paul Harvey's offering here is almost FIFTY years old.  It's not a Screwtape Letters re-hash, although Harvey certainly understands Satan.  It's short, easy to understand, and chilling.

"Shotgun Malfunction"?

Interesting little story here.

...The 17-year-old male was cleaning the weapon while skeet shooting with three friends, the article said. It discharged around noon, with the pellets ricocheting off the ground and into his face, shoulder and wrist....

The 17-y-o was cleaning a LOADED shotgun?

Seems to me the 'malfuntion' was not in the weapon.

The End of Bundy

The Captain speculates on the final act in the Bundy play.

....It will be in the dead of night, 0200 hours or 0300 hours, with SWAT team members wearing hoods so that they can’t be identified – cowards that they are.

The doors to the home will be smashed in, rifles will be pointed at men, women and children, obscenities will be screamed by SWAT team members, and the helicopters used will be brought in without a filed flight plan.  Cliven Bundy will be sent off to debtors prison, and the land he is on will then be used by the Chinese communists to build “green” projects using American stimulus dollars while Rory Reid gets rich from it all....

Pretty safe bet, I'd say.

Bucks' Demands Grow

We all know that the NBA has declared the 20-year-old Bradley Center 'unfit for NBA basketball,' which goes to show that the old saying about opinions and assholes is apt.  NBA headquarters is in New York City, by the way.

It's interesting that despite the NBA's condemnation, the Bucks generate a profit.  So much profit that a couple of folks dropped $550 million to purchase them.

Hmmmm.

Naturally, the usual suspects expected every taxpayer in Southeast Wisconsin to cough up more money for a facility which met the approval of the New York gods of NBA.  Unfortunately, taxpayers in SE Wisconsin are occupied with paying taxes for the benefit of a lot of other folks like *cough* Selig *cough* and the usual cast of ne'er-do-wells inhabiting hundreds of Gummint offices.

So what happens now?

The stakes get raised again!!

...Marotta said he believes a new venue would need to stand alone.

"In a city like Milwaukee, when you have one downtown entertainment facility, then it can be really viable because it'll have enough dates to generate revenues," he said. "You can't have competing venues in a city of our size."....

Oh.  Not only does *cough* someone *cough* have to pay for a new building built to the specs of a bunch of New York types--but they also have to pay for demolishing OTHER venues in downtown Milwaukee?

Seriously?

This for a team which MAKES money?

Thinking About 'Law'

There's more to the Bundy mess than Harry Reid's silly-assed pronouncement..

"Human law is law only by virtue of its accordance with right reason; and thus it is manifest that it flows from the eternal law. And in so far as it deviates from right reason it is called an unjust law; in such case it is no law at all, but rather a species of violence." -- Thomas Aquinas

The concept of "right reason" is foreign to the Left, of course.  And it's becoming a foreign concept to the McConnell Republicans, too.

But it should become a discussion topic.

Here, McCarthy contributes another important element to the controversy, more elegantly stated than Williamson's of yesterday.

...The legitimacy of law and our commitment to uphold it hinge on our sense that the law and its execution are just. As John Hinderaker points out, concerns about the desert tortoise—the predicate for taking lawful action against Nevada ranchers under the Endangered Species Act (ESA)—turn out to be pretextual. The ideologues who run the government only want to enforce the ESA against a disfavored class, the ranchers. If you’re a well-connected Democrat who needs similar land for a solar project, the Obama administration will not only refrain from enforcing the ESA against you; it will transport the tortoises to the ranchers’ location in order to manufacture a better pretext for using the law to harass the ranchers.

When law becomes a politicized weapon rather than a reflection of society’s shared principles, one can no longer expect it to be revered in a manner befitting “political religion.” And when the officials trusted to execute law faithfully violate laws regularly, they lose their presumption of legitimacy. Much of the public is not going to see the Feds versus Bundy as the Law versus the Outlaw; we are more apt to see it as the Bully versus the Small Fry....(HT:  ColdFury)

The legitimacy of the PajamaBoy President's regime, if it depended only on 'just execution of the law,' is non-existent.  It has been deteriorating since Fast & Furious and has become zip-zero-nada with the Lerner revelations--not to mention PajamaBoy's own demolition of inconvenient parts of ObozoCare.

So yah.  Bring it on, Obozo.  You have nothing.

Williamson on Bundy

This guy is right. ya'know.

...Of course the law is against Cliven Bundy. How could it be otherwise? The law was against Mohandas Gandhi, too, when he was tried for sedition...Every fugitive slave, and every one of the sainted men and women who harbored and enabled them, was a law-breaker, and who can blame them if none was content to submit to what passed for justice among the slavers?...

The more white-shoe types who invoke historical figures bring up Lincoln's quote about the law.  Kinda cute:  Lincoln, a/k/a "Mr. Habeas Corpus."  Or "Mr. Free Press."

...The theory of modern government is fundamentally Hobbesian in its insistence that where political obedience is demanded, that demand must be satisfied lest we regress into bellum omnium contra omnes. I myself am of the view that there is a great deal of real estate between complete submission and civil war, and that acts such as Mr. Bundy’s are not only bearable in a free republic but positively salubrious....

Indeed.  The PajamaBoy President must be reminded, sometimes sharply, that his princelings and coterie are not welcome everywhere at any time.  That really hasn't happened until just now.

...Mr. Bundy is tapping into a longstanding tendency in the American West to view the federal government as a creature of the eastern establishment, with political and economic interests that are inimical to those of the West and its people. And it is not as though there is no evidence supporting that suspicion....

The District of Criminals ain't all that close to Wisconsin, either.  See, e.g., Petri (recently), and Feingold.  And ask the City of Brookfield about EPA's asinine ideas about "waterways."  Mention Calhoun Road if the City management forgets.

Now for the meat of the matter:

....there is a more important question here: Is government our servant, or is it our master? The Left has long ago answered that question to the satisfaction of its partisans, who are happy to be serfs so long as their birth control is subsidized. But the Right always struggles with that question, as it must. The thing that conservatives seek to conserve is the American order, which (1) insists that we are to be governed by laws rather than by men and (2) was born in a violent revolution. Russell Kirk described the conservative ideal as “ordered liberty,” and that is indeed what we must aim for — keeping in mind that it is order that serves liberty, not the other way around. And it is the government that exists at the sufferance of the people, including such irascible ones as Mr. Bundy, not the other way around....

And let's talk about "equality before the law" a bit, too!!

...The citizens of this country, like those of any country, have an interest in the question of who is permitted to immigrate here and on what terms. Those interests and the ability to act in their furtherance are generally considered to be a substantial part of what we mean by “sovereignty.” Sovereignty has, historically, been regarded as a serious business. But if we judge the federal government by its actions rather than by the words of its functionaries, the defense of national sovereignty is many, many places down the federal to-do list from looking after tortoise welfare....

Yes, G W Bush, we're looking at YOU.  (Your successor gets it next)

...If we are to have the rule of law, then, by all means, let’s have the rule of law: Shut down those federal subsidies and IRS penalties in states that did not create their own exchanges under the Affordable Care Act.... And let’s enforce the ACA’s deadlines with the same scrupulosity with which the IRS enforces its deadlines. Let’s see Lois Lerner and a few hundred IRS employees thrown in the hole for their misappropriation of federal resources, lying to Congress, etc. — and let’s at least look into prosecuting some elected Democrats for suborning those actions. And if you want to get to the real problem with illegal immigration, let’s frog-march a few CEOs, restaurateurs, and small-time contractors off to prison for violating our immigration laws — and they can carry a GM product-safety manager and a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration executive under each arm. Let’s talk about enumerated powers....

IOW, f*&^ the D.C. jerks the same way they f*&^ the citizens.  (Here's a bet:  Lerner, a criminal, will not lose her pension.)

...I have the strangest feeling that a great many residents of Washington would not fare especially well under any robust interpretation of the rule of law. It all makes you not want to think too hard about the fact that President Obama has ordered the assassination of more than one U.S. citizen with no obvious legal authority for doing so....

A couple of meaningful bumps delivered to the Beltway won't hurt us.  And if it takes a bit more than a "bump," then a body-slam is the appropriate escalation.

ObozoCare: Confiscatory Success!

ObozoCare is well on its way to confiscating whatever Obozo's IRS has left behind.

[A] recent survey of 148 insurance brokers [...] shows that Obamacare is sending premiums upwards at the fastest clip in decades. The survey, conducted by Morgan Stanley, shows an increase in premium costs nationally of about 12 percent.

And it ain't over, as Harry Reid likes to say.

“They’re going to see an announcement that next year’s premium’s going to be 25 percent or maybe 50 percent higher than what they’re now paying,” says John Goodman of the National Center for Policy Analysis....

...Marc Bertolini, CEO of Aetna, recently told an earning conference that he anticipates 2014 spikes of 20 to 50 percent, going as high as 100 percent in some markets...(Fox News quoted at PowerLine)

In un-related news, food prices are up 19% in 2014.  So, as the (D) slime are fond of asking, which do you need more:  food, or healthcare?

Take your choice.

EPA Just Makes It Up As It Goes Along

'We don't have the evidence, we can't support the findings, but hey!!  We did it anyway!!'

That's the Clinton/Bush/Obozo Congressionally-funded EPA.

...McCarthy admitted that EPA cannot produce all of the original data from the 1993 Harvard Six Cities Study (HSC) and the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) 1995 Cancer Prevention Study II, which is currently housed at New York University.

Both studies concluded that fine airborne particles measuring 2.5 micrograms or less (PM2.5) – 1/30th the diameter of a human hair – are killing thousands of Americans every year.

These epidemiological studies are cited by EPA as the scientific foundation for clean air regulations that restrict particulate emissions from vehicles, power plants and factories...

Umpty-zillion dollars in expenses and forward-projected costs for EPA regulation, and not a damn thing to justify it.

Never bothered Petri, Sensenbrenner, or Ryan to vote for continuing the money-flow to these clowns, either.

The Target: Intermediaries, Like Church and Marriage

Although even a blind squirrel knows that the Statists are attacking the church(es), one has to read a little more to understand that the real target of queer "marriage" is actual marriage.

They say so themselves:

...“Gay marriage is a lie,” announced gay activist Masha Gessen in a panel discussion last year at the Sydney Writers’ Festival. “Fighting for gay marriage generally involves lying about what we’re going to do with marriage when we get there.”  [Applause.] “It’s a no-brainer that the institution of marriage should not exist....

We can agree that queer "marriage" is a lie.  Masha is right on that point.

So why the drive to mash marriage?

....Because once the state no longer has to recognize your marriage and family, the state no longer has to respect the existence of your marriage and family.

Without civil marriage, the family can no longer exist autonomously and serve as a wall of separation between the individual and the state. This has huge implications for the survival of freedom of association.

Yah, we can name all the fervid crackpots who support the abolition of marriage, right?

...Folks like Michael Barone, John Bolton, George Will, S. E. Cupp, and David Blankenhorn have played a huge role in building momentum for this movement,...

The term for those creatures is "useful idiots."

They're not alone.  Pajama-Boy-President and his enforcer, Holder, are in on the plot, as is every f*&^%g Democrat who voted for ObozoCare--the marriage-penalty "health" plan.  Not to be forgotten is Cass Sunstein, another Chicago member of the Alinsky mob (which mob, by the way, is far more destructive of America than Al Capone's could ever have been.)

It's all laid out at the link.

PajamaBoy President Almost Goes to War

Interesting account by Seymour Hersh.  Seems that PJBoyPresident was suckered by a Turkish false-flag op in Syria (after that same President screwed the Turks at Benghazi.)

Finally, the JCS told Obozo that he was nuts--but not until he had assembled an armada.

If you thought ObozoCare was bad, what about Armageddon?

Belling's Ignorance of Reid Corruption

Now and then Belling is ignorant of the facts about ranchers and the bottomless corruption of Harry Reid.

Maybe this will help him.

...Those who say Bundy is a “deadbeat” are making inaccurate claims. Bundy has in fact paid fees to Clark County, Nevada in an arrangement pre-dating the BLM. The BLM arrived much later, changed the details of the setup without consulting with Bundy — or any other rancher — and then began systematically driving out cattle and ranchers. Bundy refused to pay BLM, especially after they demanded he reduce his heard’s head count down to a level that would not sustain his ranch. Bundy OWNS the water and forage rights to this land. He paid for these rights. He built fences, established water ways, and constructed roads with his own money, with the approval of Nevada and BLM. When BLM started using his fees to run him off the land and harassing him, he ceased paying. So should BLM reimburse him for managing the land and for the confiscation of his water and forage rights?

Cliven Bundy’s problem isn’t that he didn’t pay — he did — or that his cattle bother tortoises — they don’t — it’s that he’s not a Reid donor....quoted at Camp o' the Saints

So where does Ried fit?

The Most Corrupt Senator since Lyndon Baines Johnson has designs on the Bundy ranch.  It's important to remember that the money does NOT flow directly into Reid's pocket.  It flows to his children and grandchildren instead.

Maybe It Should Be "Senile-brenner"?

Ol' Jimbo doesn't really know what's in the legislation he writes.

Like the Patriot Act--which he tells us does NOT authorize NSA spying.

Uh-huh.

Or his "voting rights" act--which happens to discriminate against white folks.

...“It says if there is discrimination against whites, that’s treated the same way as discrimination against blacks,” Sensenbrenner says in response to O’Keefe’s questions.

That’s not what the congressman’s proposed amendment says....

Ol' Jimbo has a 50-year-old case of White Guilt.

He clearly does not understand his own bill,” von Spakovsky told Wisconsin Reporter.
Von Spakovsky, a former member of the Federal Election Commission and an expert on enforcement of federal voting rights, said Sensenbrenner’s push to amend the landmark Voting Rights Act of 1965 is unnecessary because its language notes “low minority turnout,” where the original law specifies low turnout by all voters.

“When Sensenbrenner says (his bill) doesn’t differentiate between whites and blacks, that is wrong,” von Spakovsky said.

There are about 20 (R) pols who would love to see Jimbo retire.  And probably 50,000 of his constituents would, too.

"First Amendment? Go to This Gulag"

The Feds have managed to start a range-war.  And to frost that cake, they have decided that the 'right to assemble' shall exist only in certain areas.

...Sandoval [the Governor of Nevada] said he was most offended that armed federal officials have tried to corral people protesting the roundup into a fenced-in “First Amendment area” south of the resort city of Mesquite....

"Fenced-in."  Sorta like...where Solzhenitsyn spent his time, eh?

Speakng of Slimebuckets...Mike Ellis!!

Mike Ellis is a blowhard who married money and got elected.  Ellis has been consistently anti-Catholic and pro-abortion (albeit sub rosa.)

That ain't all.  In the video at this site, Ellis implies that one of his major supporters is a dummy who 'does whatever he's told' and is clearly plotting to violate Wisconsin campaign statutes.

By the way, Ellis drinks too much for his own good.

Shop much at Farm & Fleet, Mike?

Another Wis. (D) Loses in Court

Yesterday, a Fed judge slapped the s*&^ out of the Milwaukee County D.A. for his First Amendment-suppression gambit called a "John Doe."

Today, another court, another Democrat, more slapping:

One of the 11 Democratic state senators who fled Wisconsin for Illinois during the 2011 statehouse showdown over Gov. Scott Walker's union reforms must disclose emails related to the legislative battle, a state appeals court ruled Wednesday morning.

That would be Erpenbach.  Why?

...The case dates back to a March 2011 request from the institute asking Erpenbach to release the emails. The lawmaker provided only redacted versions, claiming that names and addresses from nongovernment accounts were not subject to the state's sunshine law. The redactions were poorly done, though, and it was evident that many of the emails came from addresses ending in .gov, which is exclusive to public officials....

...which is to say that the bloodsucking slime was using tax-funded resources to suck even more tax funding into their bloated bellies.

It will be fun to read all the names when they come out.

And they will.

Is GM a Corporation?

Just a few months ago, the Left spit all over their keyboards while foaming at the mouth about Romney's remark that 'corporations are people, too.'

Now we read this:

...Intervention from the Justice Department would be a separate matter from the DOJ's own investigation into whether General Motors is criminally liable for its failure to recall more than 2.5 million affected cars in a timely manner....(AutoBlog)

So.  GM, a CORPORATION, can be 'criminally liable' for its failure to remedy a starter-switch defect.

But if it is a CORPORATION, how can it be "criminal"?

How to Get Campaign Cash

Passive-aggressive whoremongering is an excellent way to fill the campaign coffers!!

Here's an example from a longer post about EPA's power-mad water-grab:

...It’s possible that public outcry could convince EPA to back off somewhat on this issue (at least for now). But as Justice Alito noted in Sackett, “[r]eal relief requires Congress to do what it should have done in the first place: provide a reasonably clear rule regarding the reach of the Clean Water Act.” So long as Congress allows EPA to usurp its constitutional right to make law, neither state authority nor private property will ever be secure.....

"Congress" won't do that, of course.  Instead, various Congress-slimes will advance "solutions" to the problem while scooping up campaign contributions.  Then they will fail to move them through--or suggest that even MORE money is required to defeat "Congress-slime Joe Blow's other 'solution.'"

Let's not kid ourselves.  Congress will NOT write 'reasonably clear rules' on any issue so long as the issue can be monetized.

ObozoCare: Curing by Bleeding

Seems as though Obozo's "cure" for health insurance utilizes a very old method:  bleeding the patient.

Health insurance premiums are showing the sharpest increases perhaps ever according to a survey of brokers who sell coverage in the individual and small group market.

The average increases are in excess of 11% in the small group market and 12% in the individual market. Some states show increases 10 to 50 times that amount. The analysts conclude that the “increases are largely due to changes under the ACA.”  --PowerLine quoting Forbes

So.  If the Death Panels don't kill you, you'll starve to death after paying the premium.

Smooth move, Obozo!

.....and thanks again to the Boehner House for funding this monster!!!

WI No Longer in Top Ten

Wisconsin finally escaped "Top Ten" status in tax burden.  Last year we were #11.

You'll work through Easter Sunday (4/20) to pay all your Federal, State, and local taxes--but after that you're free to use your earnings for your own purposes.

Like buying more ammo.

"We Know Who You Are and What You Said"

Schneier points out that the Feds will be collecting data no matter what Obozo says.

...The main focus of massive Internet companies and government agencies both still largely align: to keep us all under constant surveillance. When they bicker, it's mostly role-playing designed to keep us blasé about what's really going on.

The U.S. intelligence community is still playing word games with us. The NSA collects our data based on four different legal authorities: the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) of 1978, Executive Order 12333 of 1981 and modified in 2004 and 2008, Section 215 of the Patriot Act of 2001, and Section 702 of the FISA Amendments Act (FAA) of 2008. Be careful when someone from the intelligence community uses the caveat "not under this program" or "not under this authority"; almost certainly it means that whatever it is they're denying is done under some other program or authority....

But it's not just the Feds.

...Google could change that. It could encrypt your e-mail so only you could decrypt and read it. It could provide for secure voice and video so no one outside the conversations could eavesdrop.
It doesn't. And neither does Microsoft, Facebook, Yahoo, Apple, or any of the others.

Why not? They don't partly because they want to keep the ability to eavesdrop on your conversations. Surveillance is still the business model of the Internet, and every one of those companies wants access to your communications and your metadata. Your private thoughts and conversations are the product they sell to their customers. We also have learned that they read your e-mail for their own internal investigations....

There is a difference.  Google just wants to maximize its revenue.

Obozo & Co. want to track the opposition and sic IRS or even less-"civil" servants on them.

An Era Closing

A few of you are familiar with the Church Music Association of America, which was founded in the early 1960's as the successor to the St Cecilia and St Gregory societies.  That event occurred as part of the Boys' Town music conference.

Founding Board members and Association luminaries included Mgr. Schmitt of Boys' Town, Mgr. Schuler of the Twin Cities Chorale, Roger Wagner, Ted Marier, Fr. Ralph March, Fr. Robert Skeris, and Paul Salamunovich.

As of this date, only two remain:  Frs. Skeris and March, as Paul Salamunovich, K.C. S.G, passed away on April 4th.  Paul was Roger Wagner's indispensable assistant--managing the Chorale and working (hard) behind the scenes as the rehearsal conductor.  He also maintained a position as the choirmaster and organist at St Charles Borromeo in North Hollywood and became Roger's successor at the Los Angeles Master Chorale (the LA Philharmonic's chorus.)  In addition, Paul was the director of the Loyola-Marymount college choir and maintained an active travel schedule as a revered and beloved choral clinician, including many appearances at the CMAA's annual convocations at Christendom College as well as its linear predecessor, the biennual church-music conferences of the Pius X Guild in Milwaukee.

He was an early champion of Morton Lauridsen and an inspiration and friend to hundreds of music-makers, especially choral directors at all levels; his recordings of Gregorian Chant are models for all who wish to know the genre.

May he, in peace, join the Choir of Angels.

May he rest in peace.

36 Million Lawbreakers

All we heard, a few years ago, was that there are '43 million un-insured' in the US.  Those "43 million" did not have health insurance.

So ObozoCare!!

After ceaseless flogging, and under penalty of law, only 7 million have "signed up" for ObozoCare.

That means that 36 million did not.

Prolly the largest expansion of the criminal class in the history of mankind!

Finally, A Use For Light Rail!!

Dunno if this was Tom Barrett's plan, but hey.....it worked.

U.S. federal agents have uncovered two drug-smuggling tunnels underneath the U.S.-Mexico border, both surfacing in San Diego-area warehouses and equipped with rail systems for moving contraband, officials said on Friday.

ObozoCare vs. Grocery Prices

Think that ObozoCare won't slam you?

Think again.

Obamacare will cost large U.S. employers between $4,800 to $5,900 per employee.

Large employers expect overall Obamacare-related cost increases of between $163 million and $200 million per employer, or an increase of 4.3 percent in 2016 and 8.4 percent in 2023 over and above what they would otherwise be spending. --quoted at PowerLine

In the study, "large employers" were those with 10,000+ employees.

Roundy's--which is Pick'N'Save and MetroMart--employs more than 20,000.

So.  How much is a pound of ground beef?

More.
