The Stuck Pig Will Commence Screaming in 5, 4, 3....

Now we're getting down to it: the money's on the line.

Gov. Scott Walker's administration is no longer collecting dues on behalf of state unions and as of Sunday began charging employees more for health care and their pensions,...[insert editorial content here]..... even though nonpartisan legislative attorneys say the changes are not yet law. [End editorial content].

In the Land of Entitlements, the State is required to serve as the collection agent for Marty Beil and his sockpuppet Mary Bell.

No longer, and the crescendo-wailing will be heard resounding throughout Cheeseland.

  3. Wish the lefties could explain to me how forcing people to pay union dues -- a significant portion of which goes directly to Democrat/liberal coffers -- is totally above board, "freedom", etc.

  4. It's called I can do whatever I want with my hard earned money if I belong to a union, and the people in that union agreed to it.

Just like how state contract dollars and lax supervision of the rules regarding the contract go to businesses, who then funnel part of the proceeds to Republican/conservative candidates.
What about shareholders who do not want that money going to candidates? Are they able to vote on the matter, or does the company board simply dictate policy?

  5. Amy, where does opt-out work, and where doesn't it? If I agree to work somewhere and know the rules and deductions, didn't I make a choice?

Should all my taxes be line-item expenses I can decide to pay or not?

  6. Under the law you are free to pay anything you want to the union. Dues, double dues, hell you can cut them a check for your whole damn paycheck if you want.

But why should the state collect it for the union? They don't deduct your Freemason dues or your Elks Lodge dues.

Dues are not taxes, they are a private agreement between an individual and the union.

  7. I believe the state is paid to collect the dues for the union.
