Glock?

This fits the pattern.

The boy was shot around 5:30 p.m. at a home on Louis Ave. while his father was cleaning a handgun, according to the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department.

Only one handgun has a reputation for discharge-while-being-cleaned.

  1. Help me out Daddio. What is the proper procedure for cleaning a loaded handgun?

  2. I don't have a Glock; don't know their procs.

But a senior FBI/Milwaukee guy shot himself in the thigh cleaning his Glock ( in his office, no less) a few years back.

Google "Glock Cleaning AD" and you'll see a lot more.

  3. I couldn't find one on cleaning a loaded Glock. The videos I found had the magazine removed and chamber verified as empty before cleaning.

I was told that FBI agents carried Beretas.

  4. Here's something I found:

Additionally, and again due to stupid and inexperienced users; Glocks have a higher rate of accidental shootings while cleaning.

The most basic step before disassembling a gun is to ensure it is completely unloaded INCLUDING A CHAMBER CHECK. Glocks (and some other pistols of similar action type) require you pull the trigger for disassembely. Stupid users shoot themselves and those around them by leaving a round in the chamber and then pulling the trigger to disassemble the gun. This characteristic (and this accident type) isn't limited to Glocks of course, but the trigger pulling factor, combined with the huge number of Glocks out there make it occur more frequently than with other pistols.

So. IF it was a Glock, the guy didn't check the chamber, and proc is to pull the trigger.

    That would be a KA-BOOM.

  5. Well then it has nothing to do with the manufacturer. Simply put, "incompetence" is the pattern.

Who in their right mind would ever clean a gun without inspecting the chamber?

  6. And that, kids, is why you work the slide a couple times and check the chamber that way before cleaning the gun.

  7. Hope the kid comes out ok. Too bad his old man is a friggin' turd.

  8. Why is it so many stupid people are also gun owners?

  9. John Foust is not.

I broke into his house and found that myself.
