Methinks Rove Protesteth Too Much

Reported by CNN:

Karl Rove – the top GOP strategist who declared last week that Christine O’Donnell’s surprise victory does “little good” for the party – is now calling on the surprise Senate nominee to explain her comments about witchcraft.

"In southern Delaware where there are a lot of churchgoing people, they're going to want to know what that is all about,” the former aide to President George W. Bush told "Fox News Sunday."

Probably the same way that your Boy, George, explained his dopesmoking, Karl.

And Karl--isn't it about time that you stopped being a divisive 11-year-old?

  1. Among the difference is Shrub Bush smoked dope 30+ years ago and the Delaware dingbat dabbled a little more than a decade ago!

Great news for the Democrats. Voters around the country are nominating the unelectable, which likely keeps the seats in -- or switches the seats to -- Democratic hands!

Folks, you can't make this stuff up!

  2. ..and who cares. It's dope. Most of the American population dabbled in weed 30 years ago and the other half still do.

OTOH, I'm not sure who many Americans found themselves at the alter of Satan during their experimental years.

Hey look, you Tea Party folks/repackaged Republicans have an image problem. Trying to elect screwballs into office is only going to make this problem worse.

  3. Screwballs, eh?

You elect the murderer Ted, the liar and taxcheat Kerry, the flake-o Feingold, and the common criminals now up for House investigation and revile US?

I'll take a regular old screwball any day, and any other 400 names from the Boston phone book.

  4. Don't forget KKK Kleagle and Exalted Cyclops, Civil Rights Act filibuster guy, and all around racist Robert Byrd.

Strupp - do not underestimate the complete stupidity of high school student.

But O'Donnell had a very good comeback today

"Delaware Republican Senate nominee Christine O’Donnell responded to old clips that surfaced over the weekend where she said she had once “dabbled in witchcraft,” clarifying at a GOP picnic in Delaware Sunday, “I was in high school, how many of you didn’t hang out with questionable folks in high school? But no, There’s been no witchcraft since, if there was, Karl Rove would be a supporter.”

  5. Don't forget the countless other tax cheats, KKK members, etc. etc.

  6. As I've said elsewhere, Christine O'Donnell makes a comment about witchcraft over a decade ago and it eliminates her from public office for good.

Obama spends the better part of two decades attending Rev. Wright's church, and it has no influence whatsoever on his religious/political points of view.

If that makes sense to you, you might be a lefty.

  7. Great comment, Amy. If this were the Democratic candidate for the US Senate in Delaware and not the Delaware Dingbat, you would be onher like the shine on a cheap suit!

You should find the Delaware Dingbat as offensive as the President, had you even a shred of consistency. But that's not the wingnut way, is it?

  8. Oh exactly Anon.

And that's what this all boils down to. The values folks are always the first to scream about this sort of thing unless, of course, it happens within their own ranks, then they punt away any sort of condemnation. You know, at least she didn't drive a car off a pier and kill someone or something. It's a defense mechanism. The inconsistancy is nauseating.

Most people (myself included) are pretty apathetic about this whole witchcraft thing. Whatever. History tells us that a certain degree of lunacy in public office is only natural. But it's the blatant inconsistancy coming from the people who tend to dwell on this sort of thing that's the story here.

It just looks all so much like your everyday party politics.

  9. The difference between O'Donnell & Obama. She dabbled. Later she wised up & walked away. Obama immersed himself in it, bought it lock stock & barrel & then only tried to distance himself when it became a hot potato. She hasn't denied a thing while Obama denied ever noticing what Wright said week after week with him there.
the left welcomes screwballs left & right while labelling those who uphold the Constitutional values of our Founding Fathers (& Mothers for that matter) as screwballs.
The left excuses an unrepentant murderer like Ted Kennedy. The left denies that it IS the party of the KKK. That it was the party that wrote the seperate but equal laws etc that kept discrimination going for 100+ years after the Civil War.
It is the left that is being inconsistant, not the right.
& we will see who's laughing last when Sen O'Donnell takes her seat after the election.

  10. Al, while I agree with most of your statements, O'Donnell is not the shoe in many think. Delaware is quite Liberal, more so than Wisconsin. With a willing media delving into every aspect of her life, she faces a severely uphill battle. I hope she can bear up under the scrutiny.

  11. I am glad the media is tearing her up. All it does is motivate the more of the same people who voted for her in the primary to vote for her in Nov. The next month and a half is going to be exciting!

  12. Exciting, and disgusting as well. quite a combination...

  13. O'Donnell's dabbling in witchcraft years ago = big news for media.

Hillary's 'seances' in White House years ago = not so much.

  14. Spoken like a Republican Al. Way to hit the ol',"but Teddy Kennedy killed someone" panic button. You managed to prove my point in less than 3 hours.

So DCS likes all the MSM attention and Larry thinks the MSM is out to get her.

......why don't we cue up some circus music.

O.K. I'm done with this subject. I've spent too much time on this partisan merry-go-round. Three comments is three too many.

  15. J. - I didn't say the media was out to get O'Donnell. I just pointed out the hypocrisy. If it's not such a big deal (and it's not), then why all the air time about it?

    ReplyDelete
  16. J - FYI, at the time of the Kennedy incident at Chappaquiddick I was a Democrat & I said then what I am saying now, Ted Kennedy got away with murder. So don't turn this into a partisan thing. He did get away with murder because he was a Kennedy. & the media aided & abetted him then & now.
I notice you didn't argue my point about the KKK, why, because it is true as well. They gave Byrd when he died while not giving Strom Thurmond the same courtesy.
& by the way, back in my Dem days I also said that the only difference between Nixon & Johnson is that Nixon got caught, something that as more & more comes out, has proven to be true.
The 1st political campaign I worked on was as a child for Johnson. I also supported Humphrey, McGovern & voted for Carter. So please, don't label what I am saying as being Republican. It is fact.
& by the way, how does a little dabbling in witchcraft equal killing a human being? It doesn't. So your attempt to do so could be called talking like a Democrat.

  17. Larry-Because it boosts the 24 hour news network's ratings.

Al-Ted Kennedy was a murderer. No question about it. The KKK had roots in both parties. And, as I said before, I don't care if O'Donnell sacrificed goats on the alter of Satan or whatever. I think you're gonna have a difficult time pinning me as a liberal partisan. My loyalties to the Democratic Party are weak at best.

My point here again, is that the Christian values folks are always the ones preaching to us about our leadership having a strong moral compass but as soon as someone within their own ranks shows glaring contradictions to what their definition of "moral" is, they simply sweep it under the rug and pretend that it's no big deal. If this woman was running under any other banner besides "Republican Teaparty Candidate", there's no question that O'Donnell would be hammered by the same folks sticking up for her now.

    ReplyDelete
  18. J - The point isn't glaring contradictions, the point is the willingness to admit mistakes, repent & change. that is what O'Donnell did, that is what Kennedy & the Dems don't do. & that is when we criticize. You also ignored the rest of what i said since it clearly uindermines your claim we have a double standard.
By the way, you sure were quick to paint me as a Republican partisan because of what I said, even though I proved that was not the point, but you are now the 1 who doesn't like it even thoush I simply sayed you could be not that you were a Democrat. Who's using the double standard now????
