Weakland Whining, Again. Please Shut Up!!

In the New York Times (surprise!!)

“If we say our God is an all-loving god,” he said, “how do you explain that at any given time probably 400 million living on the planet at one time would be gay? Are the religions of the world, as does Catholicism, saying to those hundreds of millions of people, you have to pass your whole life without any physical, genital expression of that love?”

Reliable estimates put homosexuals at five percent of the population (or less.) That would mean that the number is, perhaps, THREE hundred + million, not 400 million. And, of course, that number is smaller the further back in time you go.

But nevermind, Bertie.

There is no necessary connection between "love" and "physical, genital expression." None.

IIRC, the greatest Lover ever born on earth did not "physically, genitally" 'do' anyone. All He did was preach, suffer, and die for those He loved. Matter of fact, Rembert, He serves as the Model for priests, no?

Children love their parents non-genitally, Bertie. People who are not married can love non-genitally. They do it all the time.

Please, Rembert. Take Charlie Sykes' advice and SHUT UP!! SHUT UP!! JUST SHUT UP!!

  1. There are also about a billion Muslims, over a billion Hindus and more than a billion Buddhists [sic]. If there is an all-loving god [his own 'sic'] then why doesn't he accept them, too?

Because God declared his own rules, and his own gatekeeper, who is Jesus. God isn't a sock puppet. You must accept His way to get his beneficial promises.

  2. Archbishop Weakland should also know that just because someone is born with certain natural inclinations towards homosexual behavior does not mean God necessarily wants the homosexually-inclined person to act on those inclinations.

Alcoholics, for example, also quite possibly have a natural genetic or biochemical proclivity towards excessive drinking, but we never encourage alcoholics to embrace the bottle just because they were born with a natural inclination to abuse alcohol.

We act on or refrain from acting on our natural inclinations by evaluating those inclinations in the light of right reason. Same-sex genital expression does not hold up in the court of right reason.

  4. The world's population is largest NOW. 10 years ago, the total population was less than today. 10 years before that, it was even less...

I wasn't clear. Hope that helps.

  5. Obviously, if we were concerned about time travel, wouldn't our Delorean's computer remind us to focus on the percentage, not the absolute value?

  6. Time travel Foust?

Weakland chooses to use the phrase "at any given time" and that statement is absolutely false - considering the percentage, not absolute value.
