Why Fr Pfleger Was Furloughed

Roeser nails it:

I said yesterday: when Democrats get fed up and unity of the ticket is threatened, the Catholic archdiocese acts. And so it did by suspending for several weeks…not removing permanently…Fr. Michael Pfleger

If it were a matter of Catholicism (either belief or practice), Pfleger would have been gone about 30 years ago.

  1. The very fact that he supports a baby-killer should be enough for immediate dismissal.

I'm just going to make the assumption that this is the first time the archdiocese has heard him talk politically.

Pfleger definitely can't call himself a priest after acting like that.

  2. So what you're saying, Dad29, is that the Chicago archdiocese is in the tank for Obama and Cardinal George's reaction to Fr. Pfleger is purely a politically expedient move?

  3. No. What I relayed is Roeser's word (and he is VERY wired) that the Archdiocese is 'in the tank' for the Democrat Party.

Yes, it was a purely political move.

  4. To continue: when Pfleger threatened the Democrat establishment with his racially-divisive rant, he had to be rapped on the knuckles.

    There ARE white Democrat voters.

  5. I wasn't clear. I didn't mean to put words in your mouth. I realize you were relaying what Roeser said. Your resounding "Roeser nails it" led me to believe that you're on board with his analysis.

Yes, I know there are white Democrat voters. I know some of them personally.

I hate to think that Cardinal George was moved to act based on politics alone. I was thinking it could be related to the national airing of the archdiocese's dirty laundry or possibly the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.
