Interesting bit of knowledge about St Augustine's thought which happens to pertain to America's current political situation.

That should clarify the problem with certain groups of immigrants--both "legal" and not--which believe and act as though the United States should conform to their politics and religion rather than ours. IOW, if you don't like a Christian republic, you're not part of the 'populus' here.
Legally and constitutionally, the United States is not a Christian country. The Constitution is a secular document that does not establish a national religion, does not mention Christianity or Jesus Christ, and explicitly prohibits religious tests for holding public office (Article VI).
