Surber is so damn good....
Here's a quote from his column of today.
... Eight years ago [Abdulrahman Mohamed El Sayed] sought the Democrat nomination for governor of Michigan. In a May 10, 2018, Michigan Press Association gubernatorial forum, Abdulrahman Mohamed El Sayed, said to Republican candidates, “You may not hate Muslims, but Muslims hate you.”...
Frankly, we've seen that in a Muslim (former) neighbor. Never said it, but always had the look in his eye.
And that hatred is NOT reserved to only politicians of the Pubbie variety.
Surber is so damn good at not providing the entire story.
ReplyDeleteDuring the May 10, 2018 forum, Republican candidate Patrick Colbeck attacked El-Sayed with unsubstantiated claims linking him to the Muslim Brotherhood.
El-Sayed pushed back against these accusations as bigoted conspiracy theories. He used the line "You may not hate Muslims, but Muslims hate you" rhetorically to call out the climate of fear and prejudice he felt the accusations fostered, expressing frustration that other candidates on the stage did not immediately condemn the Islamophobia.
