"Automatic Emergency Braking": Stop!

We've had some experience with the predecessor of Automatic Emergency Branking (AEB)--the screeching alert when the car thinks you're following too closely--and we were not happy.  The car's sensors were..........ahhh.........full of s**t, frankly.

Looks like AEB has problems, too.

...NHTSA said it has received at least 2,876 complaints, 93 injury incidents and 47 crash descriptions related to unexpected automatic emergency braking activation in Honda Accords, Accord Hybrids, CR-Vs and CR-V hybrids from the 2017-22 model years....

It ain't just Honda.

...Other automakers are confronting similar issues.

General Motors recalled roughly 56,000 midsize pickups in February because of unwarranted automatic emergency braking. The company linked the issue to four crashes, three of which involved minor injuries.

Mazda recalled nearly 10,000 2024 CX-90 hybrids in May because of sudden activation of the automatic emergency braking system....

Naturally, the Federal Government has a solution!!!

Pete Buttplug's department.  That's a clue.

I dunno.  The solution that almost always works is "Teaching People How To Drive."

But that requires work.
