Some "Republicans" deserve the title "slimebucket."

Fitzgerald, Grothman, Steil, Tiffany, and VanOrden are among that crowd.  They want to let the FBI and NSA spy on you without a warrant.  Because if the FBI and NSA cannot spy on you, Putin will invade Ohio, see?

By the way, Fitzgerald, Grothman, Gallagher, Steil, Tiffany, and VanOrden exempted themselves from warrant-less spying.  They're superior.  You are not.

Note, too, that the Mouth of the South is in the same bucket of slime.

... “I was planning on voting no on the reauthorization. I didn't get a chance to do so. The people who prohibited me from doing so should suffer a consequence,” Van Orden said in an interview after the second closed-door meeting. “They shouldn't have that platform, and ... the ability to disenfranchise my constituents.”...

Van Orden pinky-swears that he was going to 'vote against' the reauthorization.  Sure, Derek.  Go beat up a few of your interns while you're waiting for another chance to grandstand.

...Johnson angered his conference at two key moments during the third round of the surveillance fight: First, he prevented a vote on an amendment from Rep. Warren Davidson (R-Ohio) that would block data brokers from selling consumer information to law enforcement. The proposal had sparked fierce pushback from Intelligence Committee Republicans, and leadership instead had offered a potential stand-alone vote this week.

But the second, and potentially bigger, moment came when Johnson indicated he opposed a bipartisan amendment that would require a warrant before searching foreign data collected by the surveillance program for information related to Americans. Johnson’s position was first reported by POLITICO on Monday and swift backlash quickly followed, with some arguing Johnson had tipped the scales and created an unfair process....

The first graf above tells you everything you need to know:  Johnson approved a "work-around" which essentially left S702's Spy-On-YOU!! provisions intact.  The second PO'd the Democrats, too.  Not a very smart move.

See, Johnson is another scared little Pubbie Bunny, just like Sen. "Quip" Kennedy (LA) and Cong. Jordan.  Lots of mouth, but not a single testicle.

Screw 'em.

...with or without authority, the Gang-of-Eight, Office of the Presidency (Executive branch), Legislative Branch, and every institution within the DC system, all collectively accept the FBI, DOJ, NSD, DNI and DHS will still use the database.

From that perspective, reauthorization of 702 only seeks to make lawful what the IC will do unlawfully without it....
