Violent Super Bowl Fans, Redux!!

Although Channel 6 has apparently buried this story, they ran it yesterday evening.  Ted Perry used his Somber Tone.

Parents who drank alcohol while watching the Super Bowl were more likely than those who abstained to use aggressive discipline on their children during the game, a new study shows.

Most of the parents in the study – more than 90% - were mothers, which is significant, said Bridget Freisthler, lead author of the study and professor of social work at The Ohio State University.

“The links between alcohol use, aggression and watching violent sports have been studied almost exclusively among men,” Freisthler said....

Uh-huh.  Parents who drink beat their children during Super Bowl.

Only 31 years ago, we heard a similar story.

Thursday, January 28 [1993] A news conference was called in Pasadena, California, the site of the forthcoming Super Bowl game, by a coalition of women's groups. At the news conference reporters were informed that significant anecdotal evidence suggested that Super Bowl Sunday is "the biggest day of the year for violence against women." ...

That story was so fake that even Snopes rated it "False."

Think Ted Perry will retract it on-air instead of just 'disappearing' it from their site?
