Rep. Clyde of Georgia has a couple of very important things on his mind. When he was stiff-armed, he gathered 10 compatriots and shut down the House.
The revolt apparently started earlier over Georgia GOP Rep. Andrew Clyde being told he wouldn't get a vote on a measure regarding a recent Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives rule that would further restrict some handguns unless he voted in favor of the debt deal. (Clyde was also seeking to move a measure to place stricter limits on taxpayer money for abortion services.)...
That ATF/E rule makes several hundred thousand Americans into criminals. They have and use pistol-braces and if ATF/E gets its way, those items will suddenly be illegal. And restricting money paid to kill babies.........well......do we have to explain that?
McCarthy and Scalise are not on the same page here; since Scalise is the Majority Leader, this is problematic.
Happy to note that Clyde is obstreperous. Somebody made him a promise and is trying to break it.
