Trust NO One

A few days ago, that was the advice I gave a close friend about her employer.

Now, sad very sad to say, it's the advice I have to give myself.

The Nebraska A.G. came out with a report on homosexual abuse of early teens (ephebopilia) by priests in that State, including in Lincoln, where Fabian Bruskewitz was the Bishop.

Bruskewitz blew it big-time, ignoring some reports, shuffling priests around, and generally being tolerant of the criminal rapists he employed as priests.

That's a Bishop who spent time on my front lawn, eating food we provided, and glad-handing other guests who were just as bamboozled as I was by his 'tough, orthodox, Catholic' reputation.

Trust NO one.

  1. Bruskewitz was my priest and confessor at St. Bernard's.
I am sad but not surprised anymore.

  2. Perhaps the tough exterior was a smokescreen. Perhaps he was traditional in matters ecclesial but still a homosexual. Two things can be true at once even if the seem an odd pairing. Addiction is a weird ting and perhaps there are similarities between addiction and homosexuality

  3. Sounds like he wasn’t far different from Bernie Law. Priests who are guilty of perversion need to be thrown at the mercy of civil authorities without question. If they are guilty of sodomy with adults, they need to be permanently removed from ministry, regardless of the bad press. On the other hand, those falsely accused need to be fully rehabilitated. The negligences of the Laws and Bruskewitzes make it almost impossible for the public to believe a priest could be innocent. This is a crime on par with their enablement of abuse. May God have mercy on them.
