Tommy Barrett's Water Shortage

Under the 16 years of mis-management (and NON-management) of Tommy Barrett, the City of Milwaukee will soon face a budget "crisis" due to pension-fund obligations.

One possible casualty?  Fresh water for City residents.  Or so they'd like you to believe....

Milwaukee's budget dilemma is causing a potential staffing shortage in the water department.  More than 150 employees are expected to leave over the next few years.  ...

Water Works personnel fix broken mains, treat incoming water....yada.  All the stuff you'd expect.

Why are they bailing out?  Retirement is one reason.

...But the employees in the field say it's not as simple as retirement, with many leaving because the pay is simply better elsewhere.

"There’s been a freeze as far as people moving up in their pay ranges in their salary, so people are stuck at the moment of the pay range, and they’re not happy about that," said Decordova....

Barrett Solution:  WE WANT TO HIKE YOUR TAXES OR YOUR KIDS WON'T HAVE WATER!

Common-sense solution:  contract the work out to private firms.

Which one gets implemented?  Stay tuned.
