So he has ideas about what to do in 2020--some of which are very Catholic.
Resolve to be a missionary disciple at the retail level. Amidst these and other troubles, concerned Catholics constantly ask me, “What can I do?” To which I always respond, “Between now and next Easter, try and bring at least five disaffected Catholics back to Sunday Mass, and try to introduce at least one unevangelized person to Christ.” Retail evangelization is essential to authentic Catholic reform; it’s also deeply satisfying. Let’s get on with it, irrespective of the troubles.Yah, Nos. 1, 3, and 4 are good ideas. Number Two sucks.
Resolve to limit your exposure to the Catholic blogosphere. In 2019, many Catholic websites went bonkers. There is no need to click on sites that specialize in all-hysteria or all-propaganda all-the-time. If you want reliable Catholic news, visit the websites of Catholic News Agency and the National Catholic Register. If you want sane commentary on the turbulent Catholic scene, go to the websites of Catholic World Report, First Things and The Catholic Thing. That’s more than enough for anyone. Limiting your blogosphere browsing to these sites, while ignoring the hysteria-mongers and propagandists, will lower your blood pressure while keeping you well-informed.
Resolve to intensify your prayer for the vindication of Cardinal George Pell. This innocent man’s false conviction will be contested before Australia’s High Court in the first quarter of 2020. Pray that justice is done, that Australia’s reputation as a country governed by the rule of law is restored, and that the cardinal is enabled to resume his crucial role in Catholic affairs.
Resolve to deepen your spiritual life by serious spiritual reading....
Weigel showed up out here in flyover country a few decades back to address a fund-raising dinner. He took some time to slap "Latin" Catholics upside the head, which was completely unnecessary to his speech.
But it told me something about him, and what you see above is right in line with his condescension in that speech. The Catholic Establishment absolutely hates Latin and what it represents; this is roughly comparable to the secular Establishment's hatred of Trump and his supporters and it's having the same effect: there is a Cold Civil War going on. Someone has to lose and by God, it won't be the pew-sitters any longer.
They also hate the news operations and blogs which make jolly old Cardinals uncomfortable; which ask pointed questions about Living Large in Lux; which interview the boys with shredded lives and shredded body parts; and who ask "WHO LET THIS HAPPEN?" and who won't let go until there's a response.
Thanks, George. Now sit down and shut up. Let the cleanup crews do what they have to do. Go read a good book or something.
Amen to this post. There is a Cold War going on in the Catholic Church, it couldn't be more obvious and that information has filtered it's way down to the most insignificant pew sitter. We have what used to be called a "schism", but today, we are so cowardly no one will call it. But it's there nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteWe have the New Church of Francis and the Catholic Church of the Latin Rite.
Those two have little in common now. The New has broken off and gone it's own way, while the Latin Rite chugs along doing what it has always done for 2000 years, thanks be to God. The New Church of Francis (NCOF) has a leader, and he zealously pushes the NCOF into new and exciting areas such as paganism, the occult, homosexuality and abortion as sacraments. The Catholic Church of the Latin Rite does not have a leader, and is currently whirling around online in a general collective effort to stay sane and point out the generally demonic nature of the New Church. They are actually pretty good at it, having honed their skills for now 7 long, arduous years under a Bergolio Freemasonic papacy.
George Weigel wants to keep his comfy position as a wealthy, book-selling Catholic who can pontificate from his lofty position as an insider in the NCOF, rubbing elbows with the complicit movers and shakers such as rotund Cardinals, but it may be getting a tad harder to do that. The rabble just won't sit still for it as they once did! Catholics are on to them, not so willing to pretend all is well. Social media has served a purpose, it has helped expose the sodomitical and corrupt overall nature of the pope and 90% of the church, helped them to see these men HATE Catholicism and want to dismantle it.
Not on our watch, George.
The WORST thing Catholics could do is read only those blogs and media. The insiders want to keep Catholics barefoot and pregnant, keep em stupid, that serves their goals nicely. No, be informed on the good, the bad, and the ugly. It's hard to take, but man up. You need to know the truth.
ReplyDeleteAmen.
ReplyDeleteHe recommends the National Catholic Register. Hahahahahaha. Lol.
ReplyDeleteAwesome post! Taht's a very insightful remark on the new cold war brewing, and we're the targets--for the teihlardian homosexual network strangling the Church that Anti-Pope BERGOGLIO leads, and upon the altars of which George feeds.
ReplyDeleteGet the pitchforks, and run these champagne Catholics cum crypto liberals into the Potomac....
George can't say anything straight, or in under 200 words. Pompous ass, which is an insult to the good donkey that sheltered Our Lord.
Get the pitchforks
ReplyDeleteQuaint and picturesque. Not like the .30-06 I favor, nor the AR my son prefers.

ReplyDeleteThank you, sir.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, the Ought-six will work fine (Although My preference'd be an FN .308).
Certainly men like McCarrick deserve no less.
Clowns like Der Weigel pontificate like someone made them America's first lay bishop--
Oh sorry, George, you're just a little late, that title probably belongs to your bud and sugar daddy Carl "El Supremo" Anderson at the KofC international life insurance scam aka Fake-Catholic Conglomerate Inc.
First lay bishop in America.
I understand Mr. Anderson can shoot straight, at least, just seldom at the right target.
P. S. I stepped into a Catholic Church tonight so as to adore the creche and Our Lord after a big evening Mass.
ReplyDelete300 folks in attendance. After the last notes of the processional hymn and the applause died out (for a mediocre singer, not that it matters), care to guess how many people remained behind? (Other than the gabbers.) Even for ten, twenty, or thirty seconds.
Ought. Double-ought. Zip. Zero. Zilch. 0 for 300.
Care to guess whether it was Novus Ordo rite or the ancient Latin Mass?
That gives a clue why no one in Novus Ordo world has even noticed Antipope Bergoglio and his antics, or cares about his gay coven strangling the Church. They don't even realize what they've lost.
There just ain't much Faith there anymore, is there.
In the Christmas spirit of giving, Weigel has given me yet ANOTHER reason to completely ignore him. As if I needed another.
ReplyDeleteWeigel was a signatory of the infamous "Rebuilding the American Military," a statement from the neo-con Project for a New American Century. It declared that we needed "a new Pearl Harbor." Within months, Israel, Clinton, Cheney, and Bush gave us 9/11.
