The Milwaukee Public Schools are more than a little bit defensive about spending Big Money on secondary things, and the truth hurts.
So, of course, they attack the truth-teller.
..."RightWisconsin" Editor James Wigderson's recent blog post focuses on
the $5 million improvements to the athletic facilities at Milwaukee
Vincent High School.
He told WISN 12 News the money could be put to better use on
almost anything, but his reference to "little convicts" is getting all
the attention.
"Milwaukee Vincent is a failing school. It
should be shut down, not given a new stadium," Wigderson said. "We're
not doing enough to educate these kids. We're keeping them trapped in
these failing schools and we're worried about whether or not we're going
to spend $5 million on a new stadium for these kids. They deserve
better than that."
But Wigderson is accused of going too far
to make his point in a recent blog post. Speaking of the athletic
field project he wrote, "presumably so the little convicts can have the
best facilities before being sent to the penitentiary."...
MPS sent its handy-dandy lapdogs from The Press to attack Wiggy's 'convicts' nomenclature.
Frankly, Wiggy's remark was a vast understatement. Given the number of carjackers and auto thieves who are MPS "students," that $5 million should have been used to build a juvie-prison right there in Milwaukee.
They could even name it "Wiggy Memorial". I don't think Jim would mind.
