Francis the Flibbertygibbet

Some of you know the lyrics from "The Sound of Music".  Think about it....

Look, friends: Pp. Francis is now a material heretic.  He has contradicted a revealed teaching (that is, one which was voiced by Christ Himself) which teaching was also confirmed by the Church.  He'll be a material heretic until some group of Cardinals, Bishops, or maybe even credentialed laymen warn him about the heresy; if he ignores them and continues to propagate the heresy, he will be a FORMAL heretic--and ipso facto will not be the Pope any longer.

Now then, why do I call him a "flibbertygibbet"?  Because he's a lightweight.  The fact that he managed to wiggle through Jesuit training (no longer a real challenge, I guess) and then waggle his way to an important office in South America doesn't mean all that much; neither Thomas Aquinas not Augustine were Popes, and T.A. never made Bishop.

And in the end, I'm not an ultra-montane--roughly, a "pope-worshipper."  Sure, I was an ardent fan of B-16's positions on proper liturgy, and especially on sacred music.  And I remain convinced that his Regensburg Lecture which reminded Christendom of the imminent threat posed by the Muslims was absolutely on-target.  Leo XIII's social doctrine statements are the Gold Standard and make today's Social Whiners--Catholic or otherwise--look like the weenies they really are.  Paul VI earned my applause for Humani Generis.

But in the end, MY opinions are not relevant.

However, the opinions of Christ on the topic of the death penalty ARE relevant, as are His opinions on every other topic He said something about.

Let us pray that Pp. Francis is given the gift of conversion to Christ's teaching.

  1. just a note: Humani Generis was promulgated in 1950 by Pius XII, not Paul VI

  2. The 1983 Code of Canon Law defines 'heresy' as "the obstinate denial or obstinate doubt after the reception of baptism of some truth which is to be believed by divine and Catholic faith."

You are suggesting that the state's recourse to the sword is a matter of "divine and Catholic faith"?! ...meaning it is a matter on equal footing as the Incarnation and Resurrection of the second person of the Most Holy Trinity?!

Importantly, the same Code of the Canon Law defines 'schism' as "the refusal of submission to the Supreme Pontiff or of communion with the members of the Church subject to him."

My suggestion: Stop reading Skojec as if he were an intelligent person. And start praying the rosary. Your intellect is gone, but your soul might still be saved.

  3. It's more than material heresy and he already proved this as "archbishop" long ago.
