It appears that Jill Stein, who captured a stunning 1.1% of the Wisconsin vote, has raised $2 million to force a recount in this State.
ZeroHedge and I are thinking on the same track.
...Jill Stein's effort to raise money for recounts in WI, PA and MI is obviously being done on behalf of the Hillary Clinton campaign. It's a very clever approach (we would expect nothing less) as it allows Hillary to maintain the high road as the gracious loser while allowing someone else to play the bad guy...typical Clinton politics really....
Maybe Jill will find another 3 or 4 Stein votes. But she won't find 28,000 more Clinton votes. So we have another $2 million to add to Walker's surplus!!
I disagree. I think Stein stands to benefit primarily, especially since the recount almost certainly cannot overturn the election results. If it did, then Clinton would resume leadership of the Left.
ReplyDeleteBut if it doesn't, Stein gets two things she didn't have before.
1) She becomes the face of hardcore resistance to Trump, contrasted with Senate Dems who are planning to go along & get along on infrastructure and elsewhere.
2) She gains a database of people who have proven they are willing to pay money for opposition to Trump. This will be huge for the Green Party's fundraising.
Stein's very smart, and doesn't like Democrats any more than she likes Republicans (perhaps somewhat less, I would say). She's playing this game for reasons of her own, and she's going to end up in a much stronger position than she ever would have been as an also-ran in the Presidential race.
Well, your position is strengthened by HRC's announcement of today, making her a follower rather than leader. If she had not done so, it would have been MY position which was the stronger.
ReplyDeleteThe contents of that donor database would be a revelation, no?
