Seems like Robin Vos, a popcorn salesman and part-time legislator, has not read the newspapers during the last five years.
So he loves him some tax increases!!
Vos is flogging a D.O.T. study which says that Wisconsin should:
1) increase the gas tax by 5 cents/gallon
2) increase driver's license fees from $30.00 to $54.00
3) eliminate the sales-tax exemption on trade-in cars
4) increase fees on commercial vehicles, and
5) go to a mileage-based registration fee.
This is all so that "commerce" will flow freely.
Only about 40 years ago, Allis-Chalmers, Delco, Briggs/Stratton, American Motors, and Kimberly-Clark were all manufacturing and shipping stuff in Wisconsin. Successfully. On roads! (Yes, there were lots of others, like Schlitz Brewing, Pabst Brewing, Ingersoll-Rand, Gilson Brothers....)
Now Allis-Chalmers, Schlitz, Pabst, American Motors and Kimberly-Clark (and lots of others) have vanished. Yet Robin thinks we should build more roads and tax the piss out of Wisconsin drivers to do so.
Ever hear of the Tea Party, Robin? Walker did--which is why he's told you to STFU.
Let's not forget the silly idea of replacing so many intersections with roundabouts.
